On Sunday, 10 May 2026, the Mormon Transhumanist Association Nairobi Chapter held a successful mini conference that brought together members and guests to highlight the organization’s mission and vision. The event created an opportunity for meaningful discussions on faith, technology, and community building in Kenya.

The conference had leadership in attendance, including Screven Usi (Africa Regional President), Jonathan Bolonda (Operations Manager), Silvester Tsuma (Kenya Chapter President), Eric Mboya (Vice President), and Sharon Munyiva (Advisor). We were also honored to welcome our special guest, Marcus Flinders (Chief Legal Officer), accompanied by his wife, Rebecca Flinders.

The conference featured an engaging Q&A session with strong participation and registrations from attendees. During the event, Marcus Flinders shared an inspiring message, encouraging participants to “build heaven in Kenya” and reminding everyone of the great potential within the nation and its people.

Join us for a timely and thought-provoking conversation on AI, wisdom, and the future of humanity.

Date: 8 March 2026
Time: 8:00 PM (MST)

As artificial intelligence rapidly surpasses human intelligence, a deeper question emerges: what does it mean to become wise in an age of machines?

Join us as Jeff Burningham, author of The Last Book Written by a Human: Becoming Wise in the Age of AI, explores the ideas shaping our technological moment—authorship, consciousness, empathy, and purpose—and invites us to consider how humanity can evolve wisely alongside AI rather than be eclipsed by it.

A serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and community builder, Jeff draws from multibillion-dollar investments, his run for governor of Utah, and a lifelong engagement with spirituality, leadership, and service to offer a rare, integrative perspective on technology and human flourishing.

Twenty years ago, we gathered as a small community daring to speak about futures most believed were still science fiction. Today, those futures are knocking at our door.

This April, Mormon Transhumanist Association marks 20 years of inquiry, faith, and imagination with something new:

MTAConf 2026 — A 20th Anniversary Mountain Retreat
Morgan, Utah
April 10–12, 2026

For the first time, MTAConf becomes a full weekend retreat—designed for deeper conversation, shared meals, reflection, recreation, and genuine fellowship. Hear from current and former MTA presidents as we explore “Signs and Wonders” across science, theology, and lived experience, and take time to consider where we’ve been—and where we may be headed next.

Whether you’re a founding member or discovering MTA for the first time, we invite you to step away from the ordinary and spend a weekend contemplating the extraordinary—past, present, and future.

Join us on February 15th, 2026 at 8:00 PM (MST) for a thought-provoking discussion with Lincoln Cannon exploring the Atonement of Christ as a living, collaborative work—one that calls for active human participation rather than passive belief. Drawing from Mormon Transhumanism, this talk reframes the Atonement as a practical plan for reconciliation and human enhancement, inviting us to emulate Christ not only in character, but in function—using every ethical tool available, including technology, to overcome alienation, suffering, and death.

Our speaker, Lincoln Cannon, is a technologist, philosopher, and a leading voice in Mormon Transhumanism. He is a founder of both the Mormon Transhumanist Association and the Christian Transhumanist Association, the world’s largest advocacy networks at the intersection of faith and ethical technology. Lincoln is also the author of the influential New God Argument, a logical case for faith that resonates with religious transhumanists worldwide. He and his wife, Dorothée, live in Orem, Utah, and are parents of three adult children.

What if building heaven isn’t something we wait for but something we actively create?

Join Mormon Transhumanist Association this Sunday at 8:00 PM (Mountain Time) for The Past and Distant Future of Humanity, a discussion led by Carl Youngblood, President and co-founder of MTA.

Drawing from scripture and the teachings of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, Carl explores humanity’s role as co-creators with God and how technology has always been part of that story. With experience in software engineering and emerging technologies, including work at major tech companies and in blockchain innovation, Carl brings a thoughtful blend of faith, technology, and future-focused insight.

Come engage with big questions about progress, purpose, and the future we are helping to build.

Christmas opens hearts for a season — but what if abundance could open them for a generation?

In this end-of-year message, MTA President Carl Youngblood reflects on Christmas, technological abundance, and our shared moral responsibility to choose generosity over scarcity. From clean energy to AI to healing disease, he invites us to imagine a future where human flourishing is shared, not hoarded.

Society tends to be as generous as it can afford to be. As cheap energy and AI converge, scarcity's mentality gives way to abundance—and shut-up hearts begin to open.

This year marked a defining moment for our association as we journeyed to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, for the first-ever TransVision Global Transhumanist Congress held on African soil.

American MTA leaders joined our African counterparts from Nairobi to explore a powerful question:
How can transhumanism contribute to African development and human flourishing?

Over two inspiring days (Nov 27–28) at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University, voices from around the world shared bold ideas:

- Barriers to progress in developing communities
- Digital identity and emerging technologies
- Sankofa Futurism, linking African ancestral wisdom with future-oriented innovation
- A faith-driven vision for education, blockchain, and community building

Beyond the conference, we experienced meaningful cultural and spiritual moments—from visiting Yamoussoukro’s basilica and the Abidjan LDS Temple to hosting a fireside with enthusiastic young adults eager to think differently about faith, technology, and action.

Key takeaway:
Transhumanism’s call to use technology ethically for human flourishing resonates deeply across cultures. The “strenuous mood” is not a Western idea—it’s a universal human capacity long celebrated in African wisdom.

Africa is not just part of the future.
Africa is helping shape it.

Meetup: Building Neural Tissue Biocomputers with Intactis Bio Corp

The AI/ML field is expanding at lightning speed but it’s also consuming energy faster than we can sustain. Meanwhile, the human brain remains the most efficient information processor on Earth.

Join us on Sunday, November 9 at 8:00 PM (Mountain Time) for a fascinating discussion on the cutting edge of neural tissue biocomputation, led by Daniel Rodriguez-Granrose, PhD, PSM, founder of Intactis Bio Corp.

Discover how his team has engineered large-scale neural tissue biocomputers — including one that controlled its own bioreactor process for 21 days!
