Hi friends! It’s been a while since we posted and it’s because things have been GOOD & BUSY! As you may know, after many years struggling with infertility, we welcomed our darling baby boy last year. Brooks Todd joined our family in July and we have loved having a kiddo around! He is the very best thing about every day and we are so incredibly grateful he came to us.
We had hopes that an adoption would work out by now as well. But, despite being with our agency for over two years and showing our profile to many mothers in the last several months, nothing has panned out. Because of this, we have decided to not move forward with renewing our home study at this time.
It has been a difficult decision to not renew our home study as that takes us off the list for potential last-minute placements and puts a six-month deadline to renew before the agency no longer considers us clients. However, the home study costs several hundred dollars each time we renew ($500+) and we don’t feel like it’s right to continue spending that when there’s been no traction on a placement for us.
Our agency has unfortunately hit a very slow time and have even had to lay off staff because they haven’t had the number of placements they need to keep the business afloat. We are so saddened by this: obviously that affects our likelihood of a placement, but it is also disheartening that an ethical adoption agency is struggling so badly. We need more companies like them in the industry and hope that they are able to return to full operation soon!
In the meantime, we have all adoption funds in a separate account for the adoption we hope takes place someday. Even though we may not be working with an agency at this time, we are still open to a private adoption should the opportunity present itself, so please keep our names in mind if you ever hear of a little one who needs a loving home.
Being parents is everything we dreamed of and more, and we know Brooks will make a wonderful sibling some day. Our family is so full of love and would be overjoyed to expand that love by welcoming in another child. Thank you for supporting us as we’ve tried to grow our family, and thank you for continual support as we navigate the changes life inevitably brings.
Much love,
Dailie and Tanner
