Provincetown Recycling

Provincetown Recycling A community page to develop strategies for recycling and sustainability in Provincetown.

The mission of the Provincetown Recycling and Renewable Energy Committee is to reduce the Town's expenses for handling municipal solid waste (MSW) by developing strategies to increase recycling at the residential, commercial and municipal levels; to educate the community about the impacts of disposables on the environment and advocate for more sustainable options; and to consider available alterna

tive energy sources in all municipal undertakings. The committee is comprised of a fluctuating number of members who are residents of the Town, and all meetings are open to the public.

Have old or broken holiday lights? You can drop them off at the Provincetown Transfer Station for recycling. There are bins at the Transfer Station clearly marked for these lights, and you can also put them in the drop box at the Provincetown Public Library if you can't get to the Transfer Station.
🎄
We will be collecting these lights through the end of January. If you have questions, please check in at the Transfer Station or call or email DPW Deputy Director Sherry Prada at 508-487-7060 or [email protected]

Happy Halloween!

It’s that time of year again when Halloween is over and you still have pumpkins! Instead of putting them in the trash, bring them to the transfer station and let them get composted. The transfer station will accept pumpkins and gourds starting today until Thursday November 27th.

Please leave your pumpkins and gourds on the pallets next to the compost cottage where they will be picked up by Black Earth on Fridays. You must have a transfer station sticker to use the facility and if you have any questions our staff is there to help. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email DPW Deputy Director Sherry Prada at 508-487-7060 or [email protected]. Thank you!!

🏓 This summer, thanks to suggestions from residents and in partnership with the Provincetown Recycling and Provincetown Recreation Department, a pickleball recycling bin was added at the Jerome Smith Pickleball Courts.

Pickleballs wear out quickly, and once they crack, they can’t go into regular recycling streams.

Why recycle them?

👉 Most are made from #5 or #2 plastic (polypropylene or polyethylene), which can be made into new products

👉 However, they’re too small and rigid for curbside recycling

Now you can keep them out of the landfill and send them to a specialty recycler using this new bin.
