Perfect fall day for our Fall Bird Migration Walk with Mark Faherty. We saw dozens of Green-winged Teal Ducks, a sharp-shinned Hawk, Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned kinglets, as well as others! And a bonus of beautiful butterflies including a Red Admiral! But it was the autumn colors that were the scene stealer this morning! Get out there and see for yourself! 🍁

The Provincetown Conservation Trust honors the Indigenous people of the Wampanoag Nation and Nauset Tribe, whose ancestral homelands include the lands and waters we know today as Provincetown and the Outer Cape.

Long before Provincetown became the town we know today, Wampanoag people lived in relationship with this landscape—its woodlands, wetlands, dunes, shoreline, and abundant waters. Their knowledge, traditions, and enduring connection to the natural world are an important part of this place’s history and living heritage.

As an organization dedicated to protecting Provincetown’s natural habitats, we recognize that caring for the land also means acknowledging the people who have stewarded it for generations. We honor the Wampanoag people, their history, their resilience, and their continuing presence in our region.

May our commitment to conservation be guided by respect for the land, the waters, and the Indigenous communities whose connections to them endure. 📸 William Mullin

From the smallest urban parks and community gardens to our largest rivers and forests, all of Massachusetts's natural spaces deserve protection. Because of a lack of funding, our state isn't protecting these outdoor spaces as it should. Let's secure dedicated funding for conservation by voting YES on Question 6!

The spectacle and excitement of bird migration, along with the brilliant autumn tree foliage at Beech Forest in Provincetown is an experience all birders anticipate. Join Mark Faherty from Mass Audubon to find warblers, grosbeaks, and other fall migrants, singing in the trees and thickets, while participants will observe and learn about all of the birds we find.

A perfect Fall day for a Welltown Community Hike! PCT in partnership with the PBG led a Ponds of Provincetown walk with Dennis Minsky and William Mullin of the PCT informing attendees of the natural and conservation history of Provincetown’s two “great” ponds. 🌳🍁❤️

When considering statewide ballot measures, one of the first questions voters ask is: "How is this paid for?"

That’s what makes Question 6 (the Protect Water and Nature ballot initiative) so compelling. Question 6 delivers as much as $100 million annually for land and water conservation across Massachusetts without raising taxes or creating a new tax.

How Question 6 Works:

- It Redirects Existing Sales Tax: Question 6 simply dedicates the standard state sales tax that consumers already pay on sporting goods—such as camping gear, golf clubs, and fishing equipment—into a dedicated conservation fund.

- It’s a Proven Model: States like Virginia, Georgia, and Texas have already successfully used this model to provide hundreds of millions of dollars annually to protect their state's water, land, and outdoor recreation. Now, Massachusetts has the opportunity to do the same.

- It Comes with Strict Oversight: Question 6 requires a public oversight board and annual reporting so every dollar is tracked transparently.

Everyone in Massachusetts benefits when our natural resources are protected, and Question 6 accomplishes this responsibly and transparently.
