This is an aeolian sediment trap! We deployed these high tech traps (constructed from an ice cream containter, duct tape, and pantyhose) to collect wind-blown sand to better understand how sediment is transported during storms at Duck Harbor. We also captured timelapse video of the overwash using the trail camera you see here.
