AFTERGLOW
Provincetown Alternative Performance Arts Festival

The Afterglow Festival honors Provincetown as the birthplace of Modern American Theater, recapturing its evolutionary spirit by presenting staged works from performing artists across a wide spectrum of forms. Afterglow will serve as a destination for international and regional stage artists to express their inimitable creativity and in

novation while re-establishing this peerless seaside community as a home for vanguard stagecraft. In a performance landscape of community theater productions and summer nightclub entertainment, Afterglow galvanizes progressive, new artists and audiences. The festival name recognizes the season in which it occurs, post Labor Day and the full glare of summer, a most beautiful and inspiring time in Provincetown. Afterglow invites both performers and the public to bask in artistic expression. The first annual Afterglow Festival is slated to present a critically and publically acclaimed roster of live performers including Obie award winner John Kelly, Obie award winner and Tony award nominee Justin Vivian Bond, Obie award winner Taylor Mac, and Golden Globe nomine, Obie award winner and Best Director at the Sundance Film Festival John Cameron Mitchell. Conceived by John Cameron Mitchell and Quinn Cox, Afterglow renews the centennial artistic bond between Greenwich Village and Provincetown, enriching the cultural heritage of this great Cape Cod hamlet, making it a post-seasonal destination for international artists and audiences alike. The first annual Afterglow festival takes place September 14-18, 2011 with main stage performances at The Provincetown Theater. Tickets are available by subscription beginning May 2011. The Afterglow Festival and it's parent company 333, Inc. operate as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt, 501 (c)(3) organization serving the arts community-at-large. Contributions made to the Afterglow Festival are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

333, Inc. is dedicated to supporting the bond between artist and community and to helping them thrive together.

The Tenth Annual Afterglow Festival slated for this September is postponed until further notice. Meanwhile, we are activating our non-profit organization so to provide an Artists Fund, in effect, commissioning performers to create and develop new work to be performed at a later date and perhaps recorded in the process so that we might present an Afterglow Film(ed) Festival safely, outdoors, somewhere like at our beautiful Drive-In here on the Outer Cape. The Afterglow Festival is unique in its mission to preserve Provincetown's heritage as the birthplace of Modern American Theater and Performance, dedicated as we are to continuing P-Town's legacy as a welcoming place for non-commercial performing artists, working in myriad forms, to come to our shores and stages to experiment, explore and expand their artistic scope and vision. No longer a sleepy fishing village filled with "fringe" artists who can live and create on a shoestring, the only way we can keep this progressive tradition alive is via non-profit means. For a decade now, Afterglow has brought scores of performing artists to Provincetown, keeping our rich stage history alive and thriving in a place and at a time when Provincetown's birthright could so easily be lost. Please help us help both would-be visiting and local performers stay afloat and create their important and inspiring works. Afterglow Festival, P.O.
