Our team took their voices to the RI State House for Lobby Day, standing up for the youth who need us most. As a residential treatment program serving vulnerable young people, we know firsthand the challenges and barriers that threaten the quality of care we provide. Every young person in our care deserves a strong voice in the room. "We want state representatives and senators to hear our story," said Turning The Corner Residential Director Darren Ofokansi.

TTC operates five specialized residential programs and Rhode Island’s only emergency placement program for juvenile males aged 13 to 18. Over the past 32 years, we have provided trauma-informed care, stability and holistic services to over 1,500 young people.

The State House may be closed, but advocacy doesn't take snow days. ❄️ Earlier this month, Lobby Day brought leaders like Lauri E Smalls, Executive Director of Turning the Corner Residential Treatment Programs, and Board Chair for The Rhode Island Coalition for Children and Families to Smith Hill to fight for the 30,000 families and 43 agencies that depend on adequate funding to survive. "If any portion of this system of care fails, it's catastrophic." The stakes don't get higher than that.

One week later, we are still buzzing from the incredible energy (and the SOLD OUT crowd!) at our ClariTEA and Care: Black Women Understanding Menopause event. It was truly inspiring to see so many community members eager to engage in conversations about women's health.
