ΣΛΥ Theta Beta Graduate & Professional Chapter "If you educate a man, you educate an individual but if you educate a woman, you educate [and empower] a family, a community, a nation." - African Proverb

On December 1st 1987 at Binghamton University, Founding Mothers Cynthia Santiago, Adriana Zamora, Carmen Ibeth Garcia-Quinones and Carol Elizabeth Torres created an organization that would not only serve as a voice for women in an academic setting, but would also provide sincere sisterhood and unconditional support while actively promoting academic achievement, service to the community and cultura

l enrichment. Over two decades and over fifty campuses later, the Hermanas of Sigma Lambda Upsilon / Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. continue the legacy of our Founders' vision by effectively bridging the gap between the Latino community and the campuses we represent. Our goals and ideals are exemplified through the shared bond and lifelong commitment of over eight hundred members: Sisterhood, Leadership, Community Service, Cultural Awareness and Academic Excellence. The Theta Beta Graduate and Professional Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon / Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. exists to give alumnae members an outlet through which we can give continuation to our organizational mission and vision as well as serve as mentors to our rising undergraduate leaders and empower the communities in which we work and live.
