Brown RISD Hillel Hillel is the center for Jewish life at Brown and RISD and is an integral part of campus social, cultural, educational, political, and religious life.

Brown RISD Hillel, the center for Jewish life on campus, is one of the largest, most exciting, and versatile organizations at Brown and RISD. Hillel is an integral part of campus social, cultural, educational, political and religious life. The Jewish community on College Hill prides itself on being pluralist and fluid; its different communities and interest groups overlap and enrich each other. St

udents come from a variety of backgrounds, both ideologically and in their Jewish experience. Some students had little connection with Jewish life before entering Brown; others made it a central part of their lives. Hillel is not just a religious organization. It also acts as a place for social events, community service events, lectures, discussions, and a place to hang out with your friends on campus. “If you build it, they will come” from the film Field of Dreams holds true. The arts initiative at BRH, created on the third floor of 80 Brown Street, a sun-filled and spacious artist studio, supports and houses two student art residencies every school year. The recipients this year are Eitan Boiarsky (RISD M. ID ‘26 .advisory) and Sabrina Eisenberg (RISD B. ARCH ‘26 ).

The artists have complete freedom to pursue a body of work framed by the unique offerings of our Hillel community - which provides mentorship in multi-faceted ways to scaffold an emergent Jewish creative voice.

The final show of the semester celebrates the beautiful works that they generate in this space.

Each school year, this art studio is available to two students for the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall slot has been claimed for ‘26 - Spring is still pending - please reach out to [email protected] for inquiries.

Last week, we celebrated the annual Brown RISD Hillel student awards! The ceremony was full of ruach, laughter, and quite a few tears as the 2025-2026 academic year comes to a close. Thank you to all BRH students for making our community what it is today. We wouldn’t be here without you.
