Joeyquits.com was created in the wake of the viral video “Joey Quits” as a way to educate consumers and workers about the labor abuses happening everyday in the hotel and restaurant industries. We post many of our own articles and videos, but we also offer an outlet for the voices of other service workers. All hotel and restaurant workers are encouraged to submit a story, article, or video to be f
eatured on our site. We do edit submissions for clarity, but make minimal changes that are approved by contributors; overall, we strive to provide an uncensored platform for workers’ voices. We want to show consumers what goes on behind the Employees-Only doors. We hope that knowledge will lead them to treat service workers with more respect, to support workers in their organizing fights, and to make better decisions about where they spend their money. We want to empower workers by giving them a public space to discuss their experiences and expose their employers. We want workers to see that they are not alone – others are suffering the same abuses and fighting the same fight. We want to educate each other on what we can do to win more respect on the job and stand up for our rights. Read, learn, act, and please consider contributing your own story!
