Happy Teacher Appreciation Month! We’re keeping the celebration going by holding space for the incredible educators and leaders in our community at our end-of-year gathering.

Join us for our May Meetup.

Our theme is Just Us: Community, Connection, and Stories of Impact. This is an intentional event that allows you to show up, connect with good people who care about education, and hear inspiring stories before the final rush of the school year.

We will honor the commitment of people like our featured speakers:

-Donald Etheridge: An EPP Participant and dedicated Educator who has served Providence students for nearly three decades.
-Leda Valerio: A longtime dual language educator at Leviton Dual Language School, committed to uplifting her community through education and equity for over 35 years.
-Rose Albert: Executive Director of Rhode Island for Community and Justice, who keeps us grounded in what’s right through advocacy and education.

You deserve a night off with good company to settle into the community that supports us all.

The Details:
When: Thursday, May 21st, 2026 | 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM1
Where: CHOP, The Culinary Hub of Providence

Meet Obdulia, a dedicated educator working towards her teaching certification.

Despite years of experience as a teacher assistant in Providence and holding a bachelor’s degree, she continues to face obstacles on her path to becoming a lead teacher.

Obdulia remains motivated to keep fighting for her degree because she knows how vital bilingual educators are for the diverse communities entering our school districts.
We are proud to have her in the Educator Pathway Program and look forward to continuing to support her in her journey.

Meet Our Team: Behind the Scenes (Equity Institute Bloopers)

We might miss a cue, mess up a line (or five), do a little victory dance before the camera is even rolling, and require four separate takes just to say one word, but here’s the secret: we get things done because we believe fiercely in this work, and even more fiercely in each other. That belief, teamwork, and a lot of laughter is how the magic actually happens.

We bring this same energy to supporting every single future educator.

Applications for Cohort 2 are officially open! Come join a program built with this much heart.

Ya’ll already know how we bring community together, connect people, highlight our educators and leaders, and spread joy and love. That’s exactly what took place during the March meetup!

We had familiar and new faces in the room—and the energy was nothing short of powerful.

We want to acknowledge our three inspiring speakers: Christine Alves, DaQuan Brown, and Phoenyx Williams. They showed up and shared their stories and calls to action in the education field.

Save the date for our next, and last one before the school year ends:
Thursday, May 21st

Stay tuned for registration info.
