Rhode Island Pirate Players

Rhode Island Pirate Players 17 Century Reenactors The Rhode Island Pirate Players is a new, up-and-coming living history society in New England.

If you have never seen a re-enactment society before you might be wary of a bunch of eccentrics that wear funny clothes and pretend to live in the past. However, if you have a special interest in pirates and historic life at sea that makes others’ eyes glaze over then you’ll love us!

Long before restoration work begins aboard USS CONSTITUTION, the future of the Ship depends on the forest.

On May 8, 1976, Commander Tyrone G. Martin dedicated the ceremonial “Constitution Grove” at Naval Support Activity Crane in Indiana. There, 150 white oak trees across the 64,000-acre base were designated for the future restoration of USS CONSTITUTION.

White oak has long been essential to the strength and survival of “Old Ironsides.” Thanks in part to Commander Martin’s leadership and long view of preservation, Constitution’s future restorations were tied to a living resource set aside for generations to come.

This week, we continue to honor Commander Martin’s lasting impact on USS CONSTITUTION.
