Cruelty-Free Mentality

Cruelty-Free Mentality Plant based lifestyle information and motivation. Eat plants for the animals, the environment and your health!

What started off as a Meatless Monday page to encourage teens to reduce their meat intake once a week (and maybe more) has emerged into Cruelty-Free Mentality. Over the past few years I have researched and informed myself about the human exploitation of animals whether its for food, clothing, or entertainment. This page will promote cruelty-free living, focusing on meals and products as well as p

roviding information about abuses that we have the power to put an end to (or at least not participate in). While Meatless Monday will still be an important day to focus on, it was time to change the page name to reflect the range of information and resources presented. Please join in, share this page with friends, and share information you have about cruelty-free living.

Make this broccoli pesto pasta for a fresh and veggie-packed dinner! This recipe features broccoli, toasted pine nuts, green olives and Parmesan. I wouldn’t have come up with this pasta combination myself, so I’m glad I found the recipe in my friend cookbook, The Secret Ingredient Cookbook. You will love this recipe!

Kids haven’t changed much it seems. Even with all of the education about inclusivity and bullying. Talk to your vegan kids! Talk to your non-vegan kids!
It’s great to have practice scenarios - run through a list of questions or comments so your child gets a chance to practice coming up with responses.

I liked the end of this letter/post.

Why haven’t I ever made vegan cornbread??? It’s so easy!! https://www.noracooks.com/the-best-vegan-cornbread/

Nora Cooks is one of my favorite places to go for baking recipes. They are always simple and taste like the original.

Just the best vegan cornbread, perfect for serving with chili. It's wonderfully moist, perfectly sweet and only requires one bowl!

I did “Boho Beautiful” YouTube yoga with my daughter last night because we couldn’t fall asleep. The next video was called “what we eat in a day” and went through a day of simple, plant based meals. To start off they make chia pudding or smoothies bowls. I realized I had been being lazy with breakfast for the whole family- relying on packaged organic waffles, making vegan pancakes and I even got bored of overnight oats and was eating granola myself- every-single-morning.

We made some smoothies and smoothie bowls this morning and it’s great to start off the day full of fruits (and veggies) high in antioxidants, mineral, and fiber.

For toppings I shredded up some dark chocolate, offered coconut flakes, h**p seeds and ground flax and fresh blueberries. They were good AND filling (which I had not expected).

The bowl pictured is frozen organic berries, mango and pineapple (I just bought two giant bags from BJ’s), and almond milk. I think I will try coconut milk next time and I am definitely buying bananas! I added fresh spinach as well. There are so many possibilities like adding nut butter for protein.

I’ve been seeing a lot of this “bone broth” promotion along with collagen supplements for anti-aging. A lot of what I read just didn’t add up.... It just seems like whole foods plant-based diet wins every time. It’s not a trend- it’s just a lifestyle that makes sense and doesn’t cause harm on animals, our environment or our bodies.

Have you heard about drinking bone broth for health? Are there any advantages or concerns? Learn what the scientific research says about bone broth.
