Some of the most important buildings on a school campus aren’t classrooms.

Patriote de la Zone is located in the mountains and valleys of southeastern Haiti, where reaching the school requires traveling by four-wheel drive, motorbike, and on foot. During periods of heavy rain, those routes can become impassable.

To help ensure students never missed a day of learning, faculty housing was built in 2015. Since then, dedicated staff have stayed in the valley throughout the academic week, making it possible for students to continue learning despite the challenges of traveling to and from the school.

These dorms represent more than additional buildings. They reflect our commitment to providing consistent access to education, no matter the obstacles.

Looking back at an important chapter in our history.

Every milestone on this timeline represents the generosity, dedication, and partnership that helped Patriote de la Zone grow.

Between 2010 and 2015, St. Joseph’s Church in Newport, Rhode Island, supported our mission through fundraisers, mission trips, school supply drives, and community events. Their commitment helped strengthen our school and create opportunities for the children of Vergeon Valley.

While these events are part of our history, their impact continues to be felt today. We remain deeply grateful to everyone who helped lay the foundation for the work we continue today.

A healthy smile is the first step toward a brighter future. 🦷✨

This past May, our students received more than dental checkups. They received care, education, and encouragement from a team of dedicated volunteers who traveled to Vergeon Valley to make a difference.

Over the course of the mission, 340 students received oral health screenings, fluoride treatments, and hands-on instruction in proper brushing and flossing. Each child also went home with essential oral care supplies, helping them build healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

This mission was made possible through the generosity of the Henry Schein Foundation’s Henry Schein Cares Program, Dr. Roger Carlsten, Wheeler School, and the incredible commitment of Marie Crista Edouard, Stephen Edouard, and Ms. Vercy.

Their visit also highlighted the need for continued dental care in our community and inspired plans to expand this effort into a long-term oral health program for our students.

To everyone who made this mission possible, thank you for investing in the health and well-being of our children. Your kindness is making a lasting impact, one smile at a time.

What if a single skill could change a family’s future? 🧵

For many students in rural Haiti, opportunities after 9th grade are limited. But with the right training, a sewing machine can become more than a tool. It can become a source of income, independence, and hope.

Our Sewing and Clothing Design Initiative is designed to help students build practical skills they can use for years to come. From tailoring and garment making to learning the basics of running a small business, this program is about creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

When you invest in vocational education, you’re not just teaching a skill. You’re helping someone build a future.

Not every classroom is easy to reach. ❤️

Hidden among the mountains of southeastern Haiti, Patriote de la Zone is more than a school. It’s a promise that every child deserves access to education, no matter how remote their community.

For our teachers, getting to school means navigating rugged trails by four-wheel drive, motorbike, and even on foot. During the rainy season, those paths can become nearly impassable. That’s why on-campus housing was built, ensuring our students never miss the opportunity to learn.

The story of Patriote de la Zone began long before our school welcomed its first students.

In 2003, the very first Patriote de la Zone fundraiser was held at Elmwood Avenue Church of God in Providence, Rhode Island. Through the unwavering support, generosity, and faith of its congregation, the vision of building a school in Vergeon, Haiti became a reality.

By 2008, that vision opened its doors to its very first class—and it has continued to grow ever since.

We’re incredibly grateful to Elmwood Avenue Church of God for being a cornerstone of our journey. Their commitment has helped create educational opportunities and brighter futures for generations of children.

Education is about creating opportunities that last a lifetime. In the 2022–2023 school year, Patriote de la Zone expanded beyond primary education by welcoming our very first 7th grade class. Over the following years, we proudly added 8th and 9th grades, allowing our students to continue their education without leaving their community.

In June 2025, we celebrated a major milestone as all 49 of our first 9th grade students successfully passed the mandatory national exam and became our first graduating class.

This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, teachers, families, and supporters who continue to believe in the power of education.

Here’s to celebrating how far we’ve come—and to the many more milestones ahead. ❤️

A dream is becoming a reality.

What began as a vision in 2025 is now taking shape. With construction nearly complete, the Patriote de la Zone Vocational Training Center is preparing to open its doors in Fall 2026, creating new opportunities for students to learn valuable skills and build brighter futures.

The first program, Sewing and Clothing Design, is just the beginning of what’s possible.

Every brick represents hope, every step forward reflects the generosity of those who believe in our mission. Through our Building Blocks of Hope Fundraiser, we’re working together to help make the opening of this center possible.

The storm brought widespread destruction and food insecurity to many communities. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to provide daily lunches for our students during a time of great need.
