Restorative Justice RI RJRI(formerly YRP)is a RI-based partnership of restorative practitioners, helping groups and schools

Restorative Practices' simple techniques energize and improve relations among any group -- family, school, public agency, business neighborhood. The Youth Restoration Project tailors our services to the needs of each client. While techniques are fundamentally the same, the implementation is as unique as each place. The results, however, are: safe, respectful, self-managing communities. From New Zealand's courts, to Belgium social services to school districts in Oakland and Denver, the power of Restoration is exploding internationally because of its ability to bond communities and heal conflict.

The turnaround plans for Providence schools from Providence city officials and the Rhode Island Department of Education included all sorts of aspirational metrics that would signal success for students. Seven years after state control of the schools ended, virtually none were met, by either side.

In our dreams:

"The bill [state legislation] rightly addresses serious problems documented in the 2022 Star Tribune investigative series "Juvenile Injustice." The report found flaws in Minnesota's current patchwork system in which the quality and access to youth diversion, rehabilitation and residential programs varies widely from county to county.

"To address those issues, the bill allocates $500,000 per year to establish and maintain the Office of Restorative Practices to promote alternatives that would hold youth accountable for their actions without sentencing them in court. Participants could avoid criminal records if they participate in nontraditional programs such as group-offender dialogues and family conferences."

Public safety funding package will create better alternatives for juvenile justice in Minnesota.
