Hey, it's almost time for the Primary Election! 🗳️

So what's a Primary Election? It's your chance to help decide which candidates will represent their political party in the RI General Election. That means you have a say in who makes it onto the November ballot!

From Aug 20th - Sept 8th, RI voters can vote early in person ahead of the September 9th Primary Election.

👀 Did you miss the deadline to request a regular mail ballot? Well you can still apply for an Emergency Mail Ballot!

Right before graduation, we sailed away on the Block Island Ferry! 🎶⛴️🦀🌊🐟

From exploring the island to learning about its environment and ecosystem, our Summer Workforce program got to experience Rhode Island in a whole new way. ☀️

It takes two panelists to inspire! 💜 Huge thank you to Harrison Grigsby of Hope Scholars Initiative and Christen Makram of The Avenue Concept for spending time with our Summer Program and sharing your stories, wisdom, and the incredible work you're doing!

Together, we explored topics like navigating high school and college, the power of mentorship, navigating different spaces while staying true to yourself, creativity, and finding spaces where young people are encouraged to express themselves and not be limited by expectations.

✨ Hope Scholars Initiative harnesses the power of hip hop and culture to empower youth through creativity, emotional resilience, and community connections building pathways to success, self-expression, and the confidence to thrive as artists, leaders, and change makers!

🎨 The Avenue Concept transforms public spaces through art, creating meaningful experiences that bring communities together, amplify artists' voices, and inspire dialogue through storytelling. The Avenue Concept is known for intentionally curating and producing visual public art and experiences for artists/communities in the US!

Week 1 of our Summer Workforce program was filled with learning, self-discovery and adventure! Last week our youth:

💛 Discovered their unique CliftonStrengths with Leadership Rhode Island and learned how recognizing their individual talents can help them become stronger teammates, leaders, and changemakers!

⚖️ Learned about workplace rights, child labor laws, and job safety with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training!

🌱 Visited Farm Fresh Rhode Island for a behind the scenes look at how how businesses are run! Thanks John for the tour and Wright’s Creamery for the ice cream!! 🍨

We're just getting started and we're looking ahead to an awesome summer of learning! 💜

At Young Voices, summer is more than a break from school... it's a chance to build confidence, make new friends, develop leadership skills, and discover what's possible for the future!!

This week as we launch our Summer Program, we're celebrating all the awesome ways this program helps young people learn, grow, lead, and build confidence. Stay tuned as we share what our youth have been up to! ✨
