Congratulations to the RSC of the Month!
Lucy Goulet is a Resident Service Coordinator for the Housing Opportunity Corporation, who embodies everything and more that an RSC should be represented as. Lucy is not just an employer to residents: she is their family, supporter, friend, and tough love cheerleader when needed. With over 15 years of experience, helping people comes second nature as she assists everyone in need and sees them as an equal. “I don't even think she realizes what a difference she makes every day.”
Lucy was nominated by Kristian Ramaglia and is described as being patient, kind, and a great listener because she always provides a listening ear to those who need it. In the past, there was an altercation where a few residents were seen arguing in the presence of a child. To deescalate the situation, "Lucy spoke with the child and was able to bring them to a different room. With the assistance of another agency that was already working with the family, Lucy was able to calm the situation before it escalated further. She then followed up with the agency and the families regularly to make sure they still had all the support they truly needed.”
The community that Lucy serves knows that she is there for them. Residents often come into her office and greet her, and converse about their day. Lucy knows everyone on a first-name basis and always asks residents how they are and even asks about the well-being of their families. “When a resident is in need, she never simply looks at situations as a problem, instead she finds solutions (and not just any). She works out plans for success!”
On several occasions, Lucy is observed helping individuals by working with a team of community members and other agencies to strategize the best plan of action. Additionally, she keeps her residents informed, communicates with them, and prioritizes their needs. “Lucy helps with more than just residents because as the caring person she is, she is always helpful around the office and to her co-workers. She is a good soul; a one-of-a-kind person.”
Lucy says that to say she’s honored and humbled would be an understatement! “I have been an RSC for 17 years and this is without a doubt a huge surprise. I believe in the work that we do and know the value of our mission. So many times when you feel that the impossible is not only probable we make it possible. I have had so many opportunities during my tenure at Housing Opportunities Corporation to elevate my skills. I’ve also been entrusted to make decisions that have been very difficult with unknown certainties. I am fortunate to have a staff that has the same goals and desire to become the best in the field. To wrap up my years as an RSC would be to simply say Grateful. Thank you for the recognition and I wish all the RSC’s a very healthy and happy New Year!”
Lucy, you are an exemplary resident service coordinator! Continue to raise the bar and go above and beyond for your community!
