Good news!

Last night, the FY27 state budget passed the Senate with $2.95 million in funding included for the Food Bank. This significant increase reflects our state leadership's trust in the Food Bank to address the critical need faced by Rhode Islanders. Every dollar of this critical funding will be put toward food acquisition to support the Food Bank's network.

We're so grateful to our sponsors, State Senator Tiara Mack and Representative Scott Slater; to Rhode Island House of Representatives and Rhode Island Senate leadership; and to the entire General Assembly for prioritizing food security. We're also grateful to our supporters who made their voices heard on behalf of Rhode Island families.

And now, we get to work. There is much to be done.

Steve is a force for good in our weary world!

Congratulations Steve Maciel!

"The Red Bandana Fund is pleased to announce Steve Maciel as the Red Bandana awardee this year. Steve has been an advocate and innovator for food security in RI for as long as we've known him. He founded and maintains the 1 in 52 Hunger Network, connecting artist and arts organizations to support for food banks through food drives connected to their events.

Steve embodies the energy and long term commitment to our community that was exemplified by Richard Walton in his many years with us in Rhode Island and in whose memory this award was created."

Join us Sunday, June 7th for the Stone Soup Coffeehouse Annual Fundraiser. And bring a food donation for 1 in 52 Hunger Network!
