PJ Library Rhode Island

PJ Library Rhode Island PJ Library is an award-winning Jewish literacy and outreach program for families with children ages 6 months through 8 years.

The PJ Library is a Jewish literacy and engagement program for families with children age six months through six years. Children enrolled in PJ Library receive Jewish-content books and music on a monthly basis through the mail. Each delivery includes a guide for parents with tips on ways to enrich their use of the book or music. Enrollment in the program is offered to greater Rhode Island families

at no charge. In addition to the monthly mailings, the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, in conjunction with local partners, presents a variety of educational program opportunities throughout the state.

Our chapter started in September 2007, and to date, we have had 2,459 unique subscribers, serving 1,705 families.

There are currently 750 children receiving books in 41 towns in RI and 17 towns in MA!

We're proud to provide the greater RI area with high quality books that inspire children to live by Jewish values. Shabbat shalom!

PJ Library provides free, age-appropriate books with focus on a Jewish holiday, theme, or value delivered to a child’s home every month in the greater RI area to families raising Jewish children.

Our PJ Library Rhode Island chapter started in September 2007, and to date, we have had 2,459 unique subscribers, serving 1,705

Thank you to all of the amazing donors!

We are beyond grateful for the support we received during 401Gives Day! Our goal was to raise $5,000 towards the expansion of PJ Library Rhode Island, and thanks to nearly 60 donors, we raised more than $13,000!

Additional thanks to United Way of Rhode Island for hosting this special day of state-wide giving, the Rhode Island Foundation for their $500 Early Bird Match, and Centreville Bank for awarding us an additional $1,000 through their Banker’s Hours prize!

Your support will help deepen the connection children have to Jewish values and traditions, and they will grow up celebrating their heritage with every turn of the page… What an incredible way to start Shabbat!

Our Story

PJ Library is an award-winning Jewish literacy and outreach program for families with children ages 6 months through 8 years. Created and supported by our partner, the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, the PJ Library reaches out to Jewish families to foster curiosity about their heritage while exploring their Jewish identity. Each participating child receives a free, high-quality Jewish book or CD every month in the mail, representing a wide array of Jewish themes, along with a guide to help families use the selections in their homes. Enrollment in the program is offered to greater Rhode Island families at no charge. In addition to the monthly mailings, the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, in conjunction with local partners, presents a variety of educational program opportunities throughout the state.
