On , we pause to honor every life lost in service to this country.

We remember the courage. We acknowledge the sacrifice. And we hold space for the generations who served while fighting for a freedom not fully extended to them.

Their legacy lives on in our memory and in the ongoing fight or justice, equity, and true liberation.

It’s been five years since the world watched a man beg to breathe for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.

We don’t just remember. We demand better.

We will continue to fight for George. For his daughter. For every life stolen without accountability.

The NAACP Providence Branch is in a season of rebuilding and our focus is clear.

We are working to:
-Rebuild trust between the Branch and our community
-Strengthen our membership and collective power
-Sustain the legacy of over 100 years of civil rights advocacy in Providence

We’re leaning into the fight for education equity, housing justice, workforce access, and the protection of our democracy. Because when we fight, we win.

If you believe in this mission, stand with us. Become a member. Volunteer. Let’s rise together.

The fight for our children’s future is non-negotiable.

The NAACP, alongside advocacy organizations representing educators, civil rights champions, school employees, students, and families, is taking legal action to stop the illegal attempt to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education.

Shutting down the Department puts millions of vulnerable students at risk and jeopardizes over 400,000 educator jobs.

"The NAACP and our partners are equipped with the necessary legal measures to prevent this unlawful attack on our children’s future.” – NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson
