A coalition of Virginia Tribal Nations is working to protect Powhatan’s Birthplace at Tree Hill Farm in Henrico County, Virginia, a place of tremendous historical and cultural significance.

The site is currently facing the possibility of development, and Tribal Nations, citizens, and supporters are coming together to advocate for its protection. Once places of this significance are lost, they cannot be replaced. We encourage everyone to learn more about the effort and consider adding your voice by signing the petition.

This Sunday, the Flying Squirrels will welcome the Lone Eagle Singers and Virginia Tribal Dancers as we celebrate and honor Virginia's 11 state recognized tribes – the Mattaponi, Pamunkey, Chickahominy, Eastern Chickahominy, Rappahannock, Upper Mattaponi, Nansemond, Monacan, Cheroenhaka (Nottoway), Nottoway and Patawomeck – and all Indigenous Peoples as part of Virginia Tribal Heritage Night at CarMax Park.

Affordable childcare has always been hard to come by in Charles City County.

When members of the Chickahominy tribe received federal childcare subsidies, they realized there weren’t enough centers to handle the number of families seeking care.

The tribe is planning its own $15 million center that would accommodate at least 100 kids. It would be open to Indigenous and non-tribal children.
