I get inspired by our shoppers stories.
One woman shared today, her experience with receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis. But when she did some soul searching and realized her need for repentance, instead of blaming God, she changed her ways and repented. God healed her whole.
Another woman shared about an Ordination service she attended two weeks ago where a local Pastor ordained and commissioned some young men to step up into new positions of service for God. He also praised his wife for being the Godly woman she has been all their years together. That very week, someone in need, that they had taken in to their home murdered the pastor. Yet his wife has the memory of hearing his love for her. And these young men were ready to step up and take their place in his absence. The church did not miss one service. They are pressing on.
A young mom with a toddler just had a baby with Downs Syndrome and is on a Gtube. Her story is still being written. She needs to work, but is concerned about how to find the right help she will need. Pray for her. And pray for all those who are still in the middle of their story. We serve a Mighty God. May His peace, love and comfort surround all those who need Him. He promises, you will find Him when you search for Him with your whole heart.

Just a friendly reminder about our International Festival coming up next Saturday from 3pm - 6pm. Trying to get a photo of this lively bunch was a task in itself! These folks bring New Hope Pantry much joy every week. So Poul (Cambodia), Rossana (Bolivia), Nike (Africa) Luisa (Mexico), Wassima (Afghanistan), Roger (USA), Shai (Israel), Melvin (Africa). Most of them will be joining us at our International Festival next Saturday from 3pm - 6pm. They will be bringing samples of their culture to taste, see and enjoy, and will love to answer any questions you may have about their life there, or what it's like for them to live here. New Hope Family - 1 big Happy Family!!! God is the Father of us all!!!

God has turned New Hope Pantry into something so special. Just look at the beautiful fruit & veggi boxes that were given out today. This was in addition to the dairy, dry goods and meat. If that wasnt enough, God provided furniture from a dear volunteer who moved back to the Philippines this week. Even more, He gave, thanks to Buckland Flowers and Produce, an entire trailer load of Tomato plants for our shoppers! Everyone was thrilled to receive all these blessings. Not to mention Reynold's Metal Company gave a very generous donation of their products which we were able to use to break down the food into manageable quantities for our families. We say it often - we have a front row seat to watch God do amazing things for a lot of people. One family was so shocked that within days of telling us they needed more dining chairs because of their family size, New Hope Pantry delivered a larger table with 5 additional chairs. Now they are asking us to pray for them a bigger house! Pastor Neil explained that God can answer their prayers as well, they just have to put their trust in Jesus! Every day is another opportunity to share Christ then watch Him work! Don't miss an opportunity.

A valuable lesson and a wonderful example is what one shopper gave to one of our younger volunteers today. As she was checking him in, a dad of four shared he lost his job this week. She started to feel very sad but then he told her he was still happy. He knew God has his back and God has a bigger plan for him. She was so impressed she came and told me about it. Funny thing is, just last week this same man told me his heart was so drawn to his outreach ministries (one of which involves food) he hoped one day to be able to pursue his ministry full time. Looks like God said "Now's the time'! So much is given and received at New Hope Pantry.

At 81 and 82, these first two volunteers are battling over today's oldest volunteer position (and who has the least amount of gray since neither color their hair)! Just met but new best friends. Steve, shown in the second pix is a dedicated volunteer who is with us rain or shine unless he is jet- setting all over the U.S. fixing industrial bakery equipment. This week we shared why we do what we do and what keeps us coming back every week since 2002. There were a variety of reasons shared. Obeying God was the most important, but the side benefits and blessing are too numerous to count. The relationships built with our shoppers was another high point with our volunteers. In addition to food, yesterday we were blessed to give out household items from two different donations. We gave away a bed, a wooden storage bench, an Instant Pot, a waffle maker, a chest freezer, a robo vacuum cleaner, lidded glass storage containers and more. What a blessing these donations were to so many. God is soo Good. We hope you know Him!

If you ever have a bad week, feel horrible when you wake up, or are tired of the same old grind, we've got the answer. Volunteering at New Hope Pantry can make all your problems disappear. Surrounding yourself with others who Love the Lord and enjoy serving, then meeting our shoppers and sharing a smile and whatever nutritious foods God has provided that day somehow puts everything into perspective. We are privileged to have the Gideons with us again this week, and a young man they brought with them who is originally from Hong Kong. We are excited about our International Day coming up on May 30th where everyone can come meet our many friends and learn more about the different cultures that make up our team/family. Different tongues, different colors, One Creator of us all. Like someone said today when seeing our diverse cultures working side by side..."This feels right.Like the way it should be."

Where there's an 88 year old will, there's a way! Bob is back and in a new position. He is collecting donations for the pantry. This is an especially important job now that diesel is $6.25 a gallon. Our truck goes to Suffolk, Sandston and often, several times a week to Ashland to pick up the food for our Saturday distribution. We do not charge our shoppers, but we do gladly accept donations from anyone who wishes to support this ministry. We are glad to have Bob and our 34 other incredible volunteers, from all walks of life that showed up to serve God and help others. New friends are made every week at New Hope!
