Recognizing school will soon be out for the summer, beginning June 17th, the Prosser Community Volunteer’s Wednesday youth activity will start at 9:00 am and finish at 11:00 a.m. All community service hours accumulated during the summer by Prosser Community Youth Volunteers will qualify as community service hours necessary for high school advancement during the 2026-2027 school year. We will also be transitioning to text notifications rather than e-mail regarding future high school volunteer service opportunities. We appreciate the great response we have had from the Prosser Community Youth Volunteers during this past school year and look forward to another outstanding year of community service during the 2026-2027school year.

Prosser Community Youth Volunteers Scholarship Recipients for 2026

The Prosser High School Scholarship and Awards Program held Monday night June 1st was awesome. So many scholarships awarded and so many excellent graduating students. The Prosser Community Volunteers appreciate the opportunity to participate in the event. One of the ways the Prosser Community Volunteers acknowledges outstanding youth volunteers is by awarding two $1000 scholarships to graduating Seniors who have participated in the Wednesday Prosser Community Youth Volunteer Activity. The youth activity is designed to teach leadership skills, build interpersonal relations, and develop the desire to serve others. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant is required during the school year to provide a minimum of 18 hours of community service at the Wednesday activity and submit a written essay regarding how they have grown and what they have learned through their service efforts. The two volunteers selected from those applying for the scholarship this year are Donarae Trotter and Savannah M***a. Congratulations to each of these incredible individuals and best of luck to each in their future endeavors.

The Tuesday morning task force of the Prosser Community Volunteers gathered and delivered an amazing amount of product donated by Prosser’s two local grocery stores. Grocery Outlet and Harvest Foods generously donated over 1500 pounds of products which will now be distributed to those in need in our community. The generosity of our local partners never ceases to amaze! Thank you, Harvest Foods and Grocery Outlet.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 Prosser Community Volunteers were with Astrid, Evelyn, Jimmy, Lars and Julie at Sun Terrace. A group of musicians, "showed out" for the crowd. Classical recital old familiar standards, talented youth, wow. Julie sang a solo. We brained stormed with the audience about good old summer outdoor fun. A game of kick the can or tag before dusk. Thank you Julie, team, and Sun Terrace. Fun and happy!

During the last school year, we have had over a 123 youth participate in the Prosser Community Volunteer's Wednesday youth activity. Their combined efforts resulted in over 734 hours of community service. We congratulate them and thank them for their dedicated and unselfish service. One of the ways the Prosser Community Volunteers acknowledges outstanding youth volunteers is by awarding two $1000 scholarships to graduating Seniors who have participated in the Wednesday activity and accumulated at least 18 hours of community service during the school year. The applicant is also required to provide a written essay on how they have grown and what they have learned through their service efforts. On June 1st, at the Prosser High School Scholarship and Awards Program the Prosser Community Volunteers will be awarding $1000 scholarships to the two recipients selected from those Seniors who applied for the scholarships. Congratulations to the scholarship winners!

Prosser Community Volunteers were back for a friendly visit at one of our favorite places. On Wednesday, May 20th PCV welcomed Love For Our Elders to Amber Hills Assisted Living. Michelle and LFOE club members visited the Amber Hills residents for an afternoon gathering. The afternoon was. Filled with conversations, crafts and memories. We were excited to greet three new residents and welcome back two old friends 😃

With the 2026 school year soon coming to a close, we are amazed as we look back over the past year and review the Prosser Community Volunteer Youth activity which took place almost every Wednesday afternoon. Over the course of the year, we had 121 youth participating and through their efforts about 36,000 pounds of potatoes, 29,000 pounds of onions and 13,600 pounds of apples were repackaged into patron size portions. Just as impressive is the fact that all this produce was donated by local farmers and businesses. What an accomplishment! Thanks to all who donated and to the youth volunteers for their service. Yesterday we had 9 youth and 6 adults package 2000 lbs of oranges, 1620 lbs of pears, 2000 lbs of potatoes, 1250 lbs of onions and 200 lbs of apples.
