We are Border Collie Rescue & Rehab

We are a network of volunteer foster homes, which means all dogs adopted through us come from loving, caring homes straight to you. Since we don't use a holding facility, our dogs come to their new homes calm, relaxed, and ready for a new life, rather than being nervous and traumatized from the noise and chaos of a shelter. We evaluate, rescue and rehabilitate abandoned Border Collies, as well as other herding breeds, and find homes that will love and cherish them forever. All of our dogs have been fully vetted to include all vaccinations, heartworm test (and treatment, if necessary), spay/neuter, and a microchip with Border Collie Rescue & Rescue contact information. Upon adoption, you will be provided with physical proof of all treatments and veterinary reports, along with a rabies tag and chip information. We will never withhold any information about any animal, and are happy to disclose exactly where we got our dogs from, and when. Our dogs have been temperament tested, and reside in foster homes with families who are active and diverse - just like yours! Our dogs are crate trained and housebroken, and have received training in basic obedience using only positive reinforcement techniques such as leading, shaping, R+, and counter-conditioning. We believe a rescued dog brings experiences with them when they are rescued and with our loving rehabilitation they become perfect lifetime partners. Their backgrounds may vary - from breeders, to farm dogs, to strays - but all of them deserve the unconditional love that they will be glad to give their new families. We bring them into our homes and rehabilitate them by providing them with love, structure and routine. We mend wounds and clean them up both emotionally and physically. We know you have many choices of rescues to choose from. However, we believe once you get to know us, you will find our rescue family to be the perfect match for you and your family.

This is why fostering matters. ❤️ Nate and Scarlett were adopted in 2019 and are living their best lives with their new family!

Every BCRRT alum started with someone saying “yes” to fostering. Foster homes help us learn each dog’s personality and find the right forever family. Got a BCRRT alum? Share a photo in the comments!

🐾 Foster Friday: “I could never foster. I’d get too attached.” ❤️

We hear this all the time, and we get it! Saying goodbye to a dog you've loved and cared for isn't always easy. But sometimes, a little change in perspective makes all the difference.

One of our longtime fosters, Laura, shared something that has helped her and her husband, Mike, through more than 40 fosters:

"Someone sent me this when my first foster, Ellie ( #58 in BCRRT), was adopted. It has gotten us through over 40 fosters with only 1 'fail' because each time we are tempted to keep one Mike and I tell each other 'We are ONLY the bridge.'"

Laura is referring to A Poem to My Foster Dog by Diane Morgan (© 1999), a beautiful reminder that foster families are the bridge between a dog's past and the life waiting for them. We may not be their forever home, but we get to help them find it. ❤️

Laura also shared: "This is the most rewarding thing I have ever done and thank God that I can be their bridge between what was and what will be."

Over 12 years, Laura and Mike have also opened their home to sanctuary fosters, giving four dogs a loving place to spend their final days, with another currently in their care.

That's what fostering is all about. Sometimes it's hard, sometimes it's bittersweet, but every goodbye makes room for another dog who needs a chance.

You don't have to be their forever. You just have to be their bridge. 🌈🐾

Have you ever thought about fostering but worried you'd get too attached? We'd love to talk with you about it! Comment below or send us a message.

Meet Charley! 💙🤎

Charley is a 3-year-old, 38-pound Border Collie/Corgi mix with beautiful blue-and-brown eyes and an even sweeter personality.

This guy has truly never met a stranger. He loves people, kids, older adults, and other dogs, and he’s happiest when he can be close to his person. Charley is a total little shadow — whether you’re moving from room to room, working from home, or settling in for some couch time, he’d be more than happy to keep you company.

He could fit beautifully into a busy home where there are always people to greet, or a quieter home where he can be someone’s devoted companion.

If Charley were running for office, we’re pretty sure he’d win the neighborhood vote in a landslide. 😂 He’s friendly, affectionate, loyal, and ready to find a family of his own.

Charley isn’t asking for much — just plenty of love, cuddles, and a place close to your heart. ❤️

Foster Friday! 🏡🐾

What does fostering actually look like??

Fostering is simpler than you might think. You choose the dog you’d like to foster (or we can help you find one!), give them a safe place to land for at least 30 days, and help us learn what kind of forever home fits them best. BCRRT helps with supplies, vetting, support, and more. ❤️

If you've been waiting for the right opportunity to get involved, this is YOUR chance! Sign up to foster here: https://bcrrt.com/signup/ or comment for more information!

Looking for your new best friend? 👀 ❤️ Meet Fleur!

She is 1 year old, 36 lbs, spayed, heartworm negative and vaccinated.

Her current foster is an empty nester home and she does great! She loves to go on daily walks, is great with other dogs and will do well in a home with a canine sibling. As a family dog, Fleur would do best with kids over the age of 8. She is a bit too interested in the shop kitties at her foster home and likes to herd them back if they get too close to the door! A home without cats is recommended.

Fleur is very intelligent and enjoys learning tricks and working food puzzles. As a young dog, an active family that will continue with her training is ideal.

Think Fleur might be the one? Check out her profile and apply at bcrrt.com!
