Kroger wants to expand store and add a gas station. Owner of shopping area threatens to sue the City if his ability to control his shopping center is restricted by City ordinance. Financially, City gets no additional revenue. Simple solution is to stop Kroger expansion rather than face law suit. Live with what we have.

Toured the Putney Pond/Woodland area yesterday. Beautiful fall day to walk the trails covered with leaves. A walk through the park makes you appreciate the value of this area for future generations. If you haven't toured the park, you are missing an enjoyable event.

Mayor informs me that Kroger pays no property tax. Property tax is paid by owner, Tom Helm. Kroger's only payment to the City is $200 for the annual business license. They don't contribute to any City planned activities. $0, $0, $0

Let's face it. Monty Helm, the owner of the Village Center, gets a 15-20 year lease frrom Kroger and a $1.5 to $2 million increase in the value of his property. Kroger makes higher profits. Citizens get convience, gas sometimes cheaper but food prices most of the time higher than competitors. City gets an eyesore and traffic problem with gas station and junk food kisok. No one can answer the question: What will the City gain financially?

River Fields has arrived in Prospect in the name of Monty Helm, the owner of the Village Shopping Center. Mr. Helm has threatened a lawsuit if the Council approved Ordinance 516. Council tabled ordinance. Kroger proposal to expand stopped indefinitley.

The coming meeting on the 17th will be interesting. Ordinance 516 that permits Kroger to increase the size of the store also stops Kroger's plan for a fuel station.
Opinion. We don't need a gas station with a monstrous 14' high canopy and a bullet proof kiosk plus added traffic in the Village shopping center. Support 516.

Little citizens participation in Krogers' zoning change meeting. Change not within City of Prospect city limits. No big deal. No opposition.

Mark your calendar for pre zoning meeting on Oct. 6th at 6:30 PM at the Village. Kroger asking for zoning change R-1 Residential to C -1 Commercial on 1 + acres.

Council rejected Ordinance 517 that gave Kroger the O.K. with developing a detailed plan. Ordinance 516 will have second reading next month. It restricts Kroger's plan for a fuel station and any conflict with the City connectivity plan
