2026 Picnic Save the Date!!!

Announcing the 38th annual Proffit Picnic & Reunion. This will be the 30th year the Howells' have graciously opened their home to the community. Their hospitality, time, and effort to make this happen is appreciated by all.

Save the date 10/4/26 with a rain date of 10/11/26. Look for the signs in the yard of Howells' home on Polo Grounds Rd. Plenty of parking just bring a side dish to share with the community.

Hope to see you there. More details later.

Sadly, long time Proffit resident Sally Dean has passed away. Sally and her husband, Jimmie,
were part of the group that started the Proffit Community Asiciation over 35 years ago. Jimmie
suffered a severe stroke a couple of years ago and Sally had been busy caring for Jimmie.
They sold their house and had moved back to Buckingham County where they had
family close by to help.

Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn is handling the arrangements.

Celebrate the life of Sallie Dean (1942-2025) from Buckingham, VA. Read his obituary, share memories, and express condolences.

Update: Cupcake is back home! Thanks.

_____________________________________________________

Hi neighbors,

The Howell hound, Cupcake, just escaped and looks to be headed to Bentivar. If you see her, please let us know. She's very friendly, so if possible, please contain her.

Cupcake is a tri color foxhound, about 45 lbs, with a large round black spot on her right side. She should have a black collar with ID tags and her gps tracker.

Thanks so much for your help!
