This October, the members of the Rome Volunteer Fire Department will proudly wear our Breast Cancer Awareness Shirts throughout the community, and we want YOU to join us!

Breast cancer has personally touched many within our fire department and our families. We’ve lost loved ones, stood beside those who are fighting, and continue to support those whose lives have been changed by this disease.

That’s why this year, 100% OF THE PROCEEDS from our shirt sales will benefit Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center in Huntington, WV, helping support breast cancer research and patient assistance.

🍕 Getting ready to kickoff AutoCross at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds! Big THANK YOU to Romeo’s Pizza in Rome for feeding all of our firefighters, Lawrence County EMS, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office first responders. 🐉🏆 CONGRATULATIONS, STATE CHAMPIONS! 🏆🐉

A big congratulations to Lola Donahue and Molly Dunlap on bringing home state titles for Fairland! You earned every bit of it.

It was an honor for our department to help es**rt our champions home the right way. Thank you to the Fairland High School Athletic Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office for working alongside us, and to everyone who turned out to celebrate. When the school and the community come together like this, great things happen.

LAWRENCE COUNTY | State Route 7 Culvert Replacement

Crews have completed the culvert replacement project on SR 7 between River View Drive and Prosperity Street. The roadway is now open.

Rome Township Cleanup Day was a huge success!

The numbers say it all:
• Over 600 tons of garbage and waste collected — reducing solid waste in our community and helping prevent hoarding conditions.
• More than 1,000 tires diverted for recycling.

A big thank you to the Rome Township Trustees for making this event possible year after year. Your work behind the scenes, and during the event, keeps our township cleaner and safer!

Also thank you to VFW Post 6878 for their assistance this year!

A reminder for residents:

Cleanup Day is provided free of charge to all Rome Township residents. The event is funded primarily through the Fire Protection Fund, which is supported directly by the Rome Fire Levy.

That levy is up for renewal on the ballot this November. 🗳️

Renewing it does not raise your taxes, it simply continues the funding we already rely on to host this annual cleanup and to support fire protection and prevention activities across the township.
