Doors are open and we've got a great turnout already for Lt. Shawn Cremeans' benefit spaghetti dinner.

The spaghetti is great, the desserts are even better, and there are still plenty of silent auction items to bid on. Dinner is only $10 a plate.

If you haven't made it out yet, there's still time. Come on down to the Proctorville Bingo Hall, grab a plate, and help us support Shawn.

Thank you to everyone who has already come out. It means a lot to Shawn, his family, and all of us.

10/11/2026

Just a reminder: even though the parade has been moved to next Saturday, the benefit spaghetti dinner for our own Lt. Shawn Cremeans is still happening TODAY!

When: Today at 4:00 PM
Where: Proctorville Bingo Hall
Cost: $10 per plate

There will be plenty of food, a silent auction, and more. Shawn is recovering well, but he still has a long road ahead before he can get back to his full-time job. Every plate and every bid helps him and his family through it.

The weather may have rained out our parade, but it doesn't have to stop us from showing up for one of our own. Come out, grab some dinner, and help us support Shawn.

We hope to see you there!

Hey everyone,

We've made the tough call to cancel tomorrow's parade due to weather. I've been watching weather apps and forecasts all day, and tonight I reached out to our friends at the National Weather Service in Charleston and had them run a special forecast for us. They're calling for a 60%+ chance of rain, with a high probability of sudden downpours and a possible storm right after the parade is set to start. This was not an easy decision.

As in years past, we originally had a rain date set for the following Sunday. But today we realized the Rome Beauty Apple Festival's 5K is happening at the same time. So I spent the evening with our department officers and representatives from the Apple Festival working out a plan.

The parade is now rescheduled for Saturday, October 17th. Lineup starts at 1:00 PM and the parade steps off at 2:00 PM. To avoid parking and traffic conflicts with the Apple Festival, lineup is moving from Lock 27 Park to Fairland East Elementary School.

We cancelled out of an abundance of caution, but also because we want this parade to be something the community can actually enjoy, and we want our floats to be able to take part. Several had already backed out because of the threat of rain. If it rains next Saturday, there won't be another makeup date and we'll be back next year.

Even though the parade is off tomorrow, we'd still love for you to join us for the benefit spaghetti dinner for Lt. Shawn Cremeans, starting at 4:00 PM at the Proctorville Bingo Hall. Shawn is recovering well, but he still has a long road ahead and it'll be a while before he can get back to his full-time job. Come out for some good food, a silent auction, and more, and help us show Shawn some support.

I'm sorry for the last-minute notice. Battling the weather is never fun, and this decision wasn't made lightly.

If you have any questions, feel free to message the page or email me at [email protected].

Thank you,
Chief Kuhn

🚒❤️‍🔥 **ONE OF OUR OWN NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT — REMINDER!** ❤️‍🔥🚒

This Sunday, October 11th, after our annual Fire Prevention Week Parade, we're asking our community to come together for something especially important.

**We're hosting a Spaghetti Benefit Dinner for Rome Fire Lieutenant Shawn Cremeans and his family!**

❤️‍🩹 **FIRST, AN UPDATE ON SHAWN:**

We're happy to share that **Shawn is home and healing well!** While this is wonderful news, he still has a long road to recovery ahead of him before he'll be able to return to his full-time job.

On September 6th, Shawn suffered severe third-degree burns to both hands while responding to a structure fire at an apartment complex. Since then, he's undergone multiple surgeries, and his recovery is far from over.

Shawn has spent years answering the call when others needed help. **Now it's our turn to answer the call for him.**

🍝 **SPAGHETTI BENEFIT DINNER**

📅 **Sunday, October 11, 2026**

⏰ **4:00 PM — Following the Fire Parade**

📍 **Proctorville Bingo Hall**

132 County Road 775, Proctorville, OH

💵 **$10 per plate**

🎁 **VENDORS & AUCTION!**

In addition to dinner, we'll have vendors and an auction to help raise funds for Shawn and his family. We're still accepting donations of auction items!

❤️ **HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP:**

Come out and enjoy a spaghetti dinner, participate in the auction, donate an item, or simply share this post to help us spread the word.

Every plate purchased, every donation, and every act of kindness helps support Shawn and his family as they navigate the challenges ahead.

📞 **QUESTIONS OR AUCTION DONATIONS?**

Contact any Rome Volunteer Firefighter or Firefighter Anthony Weaver at **304-412-8256**.

🚒 **MAKE A DAY OF IT!**

Come enjoy the Rome Fire Parade at 2:00 PM, then head over to the Proctorville Bingo Hall at 4:00 PM for a great meal and an even greater cause!

We often say the fire service is a family. But being a family means more than standing together on the fireground. It means standing together when the trucks are parked, the gear is hung up, and one of our own is facing the fight of his life.

❤️‍🔥 **LET'S PACK THE BINGO HALL!** ❤️‍🔥

Please share, invite your friends and family, and help us show Shawn just how much his community is behind him.

**When one of us is hurting, we all stand together.** 🚒❤️

🚒 Congratulations, Dillon Collins! 🚒

We're proud to share that our own Dillon Collins was recently sworn in by Mayor Cramblit as one of the newest members of the Ironton Fire Department!

Dillon has faithfully served Rome FD for over a year, and in that time he's quickly earned his basic fire certifications and completed an EMT class. His dedication and drive to learn have made him a valuable member of our team.

We know he'll be a great asset to Ironton, and the experience he gains there will only make him stronger here at home with Rome. That's a win for both departments and the communities we serve.

Congrats, Dillon. We're proud of you! 👏 And congratulations to Cullier Robinson as well. Best wishes to you both on long, safe careers.

👸 Congratulations to the 2026 Rome Fire Queen, Alli Thomas! Alli was crowned by last year’s queen, Bailey Russel and members of our department. Congrats to all of the Fairland Homecoming Court! 🐉 🚒

❤️‍🔥 HELP US SUPPORT ONE OF OUR OWN ❤️‍🔥

On September 6th, Lt. Shawn Cremeans of the Rome Fire Department responded to what initially appeared to be a fire alarm at the Applewood Apartment Complex. Upon arrival, smoke was showing, and Shawn immediately went to work.

What firefighters encountered was ultimately determined to involve a chemical explosion inside a storage building connected to the apartment complex. While attempting to force entry, the explosion occurred, leaving Shawn with severe third-degree burns to both hands.

Since that day, Shawn has undergone multiple surgeries, with many more procedures and a long road to recovery still ahead.

For Shawn, this isn’t just an injury — it’s a life-changing setback. As a firefighter, his hands are a vital part of everything he does. Beyond the physical pain and challenges, there are emotional, financial, and everyday struggles that come with an injury like this.

But Shawn doesn’t have to face this alone.

🚒 We are a fire family. We take care of our own. ❤️‍🔥

That’s why we are coming together to host a Spaghetti Benefit Dinner to help support Shawn and his family during this difficult time.

🍝 SPAGHETTI DINNER
📅 October 11th
⏰ 4:00 PM
📍 Proctorville Bingo Hall
📍 132 County Road 775, Proctorville, OH
💵 $10 Per Plate

There will also be vendors and an auction, and we are currently accepting donations of auction items.

You don’t have to be a firefighter to make a difference. Whether you come out for a plate of spaghetti, donate an auction item, share this post, or simply keep Shawn and his family in your thoughts and prayers — every bit of support means more than you know.

Let’s show Shawn what it truly means when we say:

“ONE OF OUR OWN.”

❤️‍🔥 Come eat. Come support. Come stand with Shawn. ❤️‍🔥

For questions or to donate an auction item, contact any Rome Volunteer Firefighter or Firefighter Anthony Weaver at 304-412-8256.

Please share this post and help us spread the word!
