Jesus laid down his life for his friends. John 15:13-14

Friendship develops over months and years of spending time together, not in a single moment. In verse 14, Jesus calls those who follow Him friends.

The principle Jesus gives here has one specific friendship in mind: ours with Him. Proverbs 18:24 says, "A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." That friend is Jesus.

Notice, however, verse 14 does not end with “You are My friends, no, Jesus makes it clear that if we are His friends, we will show it in our obedience to His commands.

God’s grace is sufficient... His strength is perfected in our weakness. The words that come out of our mouths are important. Those words move us in the direction we speak. That is why when we feel weak, we need to boldly proclaim “I am strong”.

Jesus said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Thanksgiving Exhortation.

Don't be one of the nine… Be the ONE who gives thanks.

Luke 17:11-19 - Ten l***rs came to Jesus to be cleansed of their leprosy.

Jesus commanded them to go show themselves to the priest, which was the first step that a l***r had to take in order to return to society.

On their way to the priest, they suddenly realized that they had been cleansed, and one of ten returned to Jesus to give Him thanks.

Jesus asked him, "Were there not ten who were cleansed? Where are the other nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this one foreigner?”

I don't know about you, but when I read this in red letters, I can hear the disappointment in Jesus’s voice when He asks that question to the one who returned to give thanks.

We receive so many blessings from the Lord; don’t take those blessings for granted. Be the ONE who returns to Jesus and gives Him thanks and Glory to God.
