DONATION Policy: How does this work? What do we need?
Firstly, THANK YOU! for helping to support our library through these Used Book Sales held throughout the year.
1. Librarians can accept 1-2 grocery bags or boxes of books per donation. (Books take a lot of time to sort and process before our sales.)
2. ** DO NOT ** bring multiple boxes of books all at once. We have very limited space to store our collection. Your donation will have to be turned away.
3. The most useful donation is Adult Fiction - paperback and hardcovers. Second is YA fiction and newer children's books in good condition.
4. We always have more Non-Fiction -- memoirs, self help, cookbooks, dictionaries, hobby books, religious and spiritual books - than we will ever sell. If they are not biography, history or a contemporary best seller, please learn how to recycle those books, donate elsewhere , or consider throwing them away.
3. We DO NOT ACCEPT: encyclopedias, textbooks of any kind and age, yearbooks, children's used coloring books, puzzles and games, family Bibles, video games, VHS tapes, cassettes and other old digital materials.
And - please consider donating not only your books but your time with the PL Friends of the Library. We are folks of all ages who love books, love our local library, and want to see it thrive. We use our funds to support specific non-budgeted items for our library and its programming. We meet once a month, and donate our time for the organization, set up, staffing, break down and re-storing of the leftover books, which get shipped overseas. We would love to add to our numbers so our mission can continue! π
