We now have a team of 24 going to Papua New Guinea in September. Because of the great interest and support in a longer stay, the majority of the team will be staying over a second week and will be working in another highland community of .
Thanks to all who are participating in this work.
Although applications for this mission have closed, we still have room for a pharmacist.

Mbuyu Charities in partnership with Word of Life International and Word of Life Dominican Republic will be taking a team of 27 to the Dominican Republic at the end of February for a weeklong series of evangelistic and medical care clinics. We will be working in a more remote and impoverished area north of Santo Domingo.

We are currently experiencing issues with regulations concerning the importation of medicines into the Dominican Republic. Because of this we will be unable to bring many of the medicines donated by pharmaceutical companies that we normally bring and will have to purchase many within the Dominican Republic.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our treasurer and board member, Dan Meyer. His service has been greatly appreciated and he will surely be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Jessica and son Jackson, his sister and parents, and other family members. May the peace of God surround you at this time and in the days ahead.

Mbuyu Charities will be conducting a short term medical missionary trip to Papua New Guinea, in conjunction with Word of Life ministries.
Dates are Sept 16-21, 2013.
The cost will be approximately $3500/person.

In February we had a team of 8 in Boma South Sudan. One of the biggest concerns we had were for the number of infections in the feet because of "jiggers", insects that live in the sand and jump onto the feet... get between the toes where they burrow under the skin and lay eggs. When the eggs hatch the cause severe infections. The problem is widespread, especially in children, because they have no shoes.

There are no "stores" or other resources in this part of Sudan where people can go to get supplies, let alone shoes. Boma is a remote area accessible only by air charter. The gift of shoes will be greatly appreciated.

We are indebted to our partner Brother's Brother who responded to my request, sending over $1000 worth of CROCS for the people of Boma. One of our other partners, SEAPartners, have personnel going to Boma in December and they will carry the shoes to Boma and distribute them with the aid of local pastors. We will post pictures of the distribution when they are available.

Many of the "little" things of life to us are cherished by those who have nothing.
