Our November CCGC meeting was held in the Broughton room on Monday the 17th. Due to a scheduling conflict we had to change our annual wreath and centerpiece making day. Thank you to those who were able to attend and apologies to those who could not change their schedules.
We were small but we were mighty creative! As the pictures show we are all creative artists . Many of these creations are going to the St Charles Hospice auction! Our creations surely help the cause! The event is Dec 6th and if tickets are available I hear it is a fun and worthwhile experience!
Big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this happen . Patti thank you for getting the wreaths! Mary Ann your generous efforts to gather Christmas decorations all year give us the ability to design and create! Linda your golden curly willow’s and silver sunflower heads were sparkling. Cate thank you for trekking into the mountains, braving the bugs and wildlife to gather those fresh evergreens! Diana and Sherri thank you for getting the Juniper Star wreath! We transformed that piece of wood into a piece of art! Diana your bows are spectacular! Thank you for your talent! The guys from the city came promptly at 3:30 to carry the wreath to our historic courthouse. If I forgot anyone please forgive me. I’m a little forgetful now.
We will assist in the installation of the wreath, swags and Christmas trees at the courthouse on November 25th! Meet at the maintenance building across from the courthouse, next door to Sandwich Express at 10am to fluff the trees we will be putting into the cleaned out flower pots! We will walk back across the street and the maintenance workers will help to decorate the courthouse! Thanks to someone for getting those pots ready!

As the season of joy begins a reminder that our annual Christmas party and gift exchange is coming up (members please check your email for details).

As I reflect back on the year …it’s been a year of learning, fun, adventure and joy! And not because of my efforts , because of all of you! Without our super fabulous members we’d be just an idea! YOU make it all happen! For personal reasons I don’t do much outside gardening anymore. But I am the exception. Our members are knowledgeable about the challenges of gardening in the high desert! And they have beautiful gardens! But I still like to learn, hear ideas, success stories , be with fun people, go on adventures, and create! That’s who we are…so come join us! We welcome all new members! And if you ever have indoor gardening questions I can help! So come on all, be a part of our gardening gang! Our 80th birthday is coming! We’re going to celebrate!

Our CCGC meeting was held at Smith Rocks Ranch in Terrebonne. We enjoyed a crisp, sunny fall day gathered around a picnic table with our cookies and a quesadilla. Once again, we were treated to a beautiful location beneath those red rocks. It has truly been an inspiring year for me a new gardener in Central Oregon. Our members guided us on so many field trips! Each of them, unique, and beautiful in their own ways . Those trips have shown me that even in our dry desert location, that is blessed with sunshine, we can grow beautiful flowers and vegetables . Big thank you To our Garden Club members !

Our November meeting will be held at the library in the Broughton room. Listen up!
It will be Monday, yes Monday, November 17th at 1 o’clock pm. We usually meet monthly on the third Tuesday, but in November and only November, it will be Monday the 17th. The Broughton room was already booked on that Tuesday , we hope we have not inconvenienced some of our members

Come join us if you’re new to Prineville. Our Crook County Garden Club has been in existence for 80 years! That is awesome! We discussed some big plans for our celebration this coming year! Our November meeting is when we give back to our community by making wreaths for the St. Charles Hospice auction! We also make the wreath that decorates our historic courthouse. We also dress in the little lighted trees that go in the flower pots on the steps of the courthouse. It’s a wonderful way to kick off the season of giving. I hope we see you there.

Come join us! We have lots of laughter, lots of learning, lots of friends, lots of fun and our hospitality girl! She’s totally awesome! Have a cup of coffee on us! And we might even have a cookie to go with it!

Yours truly,
Michele Lawler, Madam President🤣

Our August meeting was held at Smiley‘s Lavender Farm, here in Prineville. What a delightful meeting we held. Our hostess Patti Smiley taught us how to create nature weavings. Patti provided all the supplies necessary to create our unique and beautiful nature weavings. Some of our garden members brought feathers and additional flowers and grasses for us to weave into our creations. We had a yummy potluck. It was a beautiful afternoon as we sat under the canopy, creating the lovely weavings. We walked through her gardens, saw Patty’s beautiful stained glass creations, her alpacas, I think and cute little chickens. We took in the Country air, the beautiful afternoon, the camaraderie of our flower friends and honestly couldn’t have had a more delightful afternoon . A big thank you thank you to Patti. And thank you to Pattis husband for gathering up all of our sticks and helping set up the great venue. We hope you’ll join us here at our Crook County garden club. You’ll learn a lot ,and you’ll make new friends. We have experienced Central Oregon gardeners , we have beginners, and we even have one who prefers to garden with indoor plants. That would be me ! So come join us

Smiley's Lavender Farm, located on Puckett Road, open several days a week from 10-2. GORGEOUS U-Pick flowers, a few posted in the photos, and a sweet gift shop.
Please click on the location to find Patti and “like” her page (I’ll place the link in the comments).

On Tuesday, our CCGC Members spent their time in the cool morning air cutting pretty posies from their own gardens in preparation for our floral arrangement class.
By 1:00 the Broughton room was transformed into a spectacular colorful garden! Buckets and buckets of beautiful cut flowers filled the tables! Daisies, peonies, textural grasses, feverfew, larkspur, curly willows, it was flower power times 10!
Our member Diana Geppner, shared with us, her creativity and knowledge in designing floral arrangements! Formal, whimsical, tradional or modern designs, she touched on all! Short vessels, tall vessels, bowls, so much to learn! For me, this was the best, it was a wonderful class! And just before we descended on the "flower bar" to choose the flowers we wanted, we learned about what each of our members had brought to share in those great big buckets! Oh...it was a beautiful July day! We welcome y'all to come join us! We love gardening, we help keep Prineville a special place to live, we have a great snack bar, and we want you to come join us! And we make new friends and we create and learn.
