New Cabin Project, Phase One: Complete!!

The Foundations are poured. The new water lines are connected and buried. The new septic connection for the McLeod cottage is complete. The sites are graded. The equipment is moving out. The dirt is beginning to settle. The leaves are continuing to fall. The air is getting cooler and soon the snow will come.

What’s next at Big Lake Campmeeting?

In the Spring, the new cabins will be built!

The BLCA Executive Board are looking ahead and discussing our next projects. The Historical Crockett Building and Big Lake Tabernacle are both in desperate need of overdue upgrades and maintenance. We hope to preserve these buildings and help update them to welcome future generations of families gathering at Big Lake Campmeeting for years to come.

We ask that you join us in praying for discernment and wisdom as we prioritize and tackle each of these projects. Pray for those doing the work, that they would be safe and healthy. Pray for the campers whose lives will be changed through our Youth Camp Program.

Thankfully, donors have already provided the money needed for the new cabins, but we are beginning the process of raising funds for the other critical facility upgrades. We also ask you to prayerfully consider donating to support our efforts to maintain and upgrade our historic buildings.

Thank you for your continued support and excitement about all the wonderful things happening at Big Lake Campmeeting! We can’t wait to see how the Lord is going to move in the hearts of our campers, staff and community in the years to come!

And just like that, one of the cabins has a Foundation!!

Foundation forms for the New Cabins are going in! As long as the weather holds, we hope to have the foundations poured, all the site work complete, and the extra septic work finished by the end of the week.

Special thanks to Contractor Ed Hansen for making sure this part of the project got done before winter.

Immense gratitude to Ernest Carle for removing the trees and brush to get the sites ready for this work. It was a huge job and we are grateful! The felled trees will be used to heat Sunrise Christian Church next winter.

Thanks to Steve Rachelle N Stephen Cox for closing up the camp facilities for the winter, managing all the elements of the site work, and for being an extra set of hands!

And of course, we are forever grateful for Mark Story for raising the seed money that got this project started in memory of his father, Rev. Tim Story. These cabins are a labor of love and a testament of the dedication of the Big Lake Community past and present to see our camp grow and host more campers in the coming years.

The site work progress this week on our New Cabins Project has been impressive. Stumps have been removed, are being hauled away, and the sites are being graded for drainage.

It is so exciting to know we will have the space to host more campers next summer!

Big Lake Campmeeting is looking for a Camp Director and a Camp Nurse for 2027!

With sadness and gratitude, we share that Amy and Aaron Barton have stepped down as our Camp Directors. We are thankful for the time, love, and energy they have poured into camp and into the lives of our campers. They will be greatly missed in this role!

We are prayerfully seeking an individual or couple to step into the Camp Director position—someone who loves Jesus, enjoys working with children and teens, and can lead and encourage our camp staff.

Our much-loved Nurse Lori is also unable to return this year, so we are seeking to hire a Camp Nurse to help care for our campers and staff. We are grateful for Lori and the care she has given our camp family!

We are so excited to share the progress on our New Camper Cabin Project! The lot for the new cabins has been cleared and the equipment for the ground work has started moving in! We are taking advantage of having all the equipment on site and having waterlines buried and some septic system work done, too.

Special Thanks to Pastor Ernest Carle of Sunrise Christian Church for clearing the lots, downing the trees and removing the brush. We are so thankful for Ernest’s hard work in getting the lot ready for the next steps.

Pray for the team that is doing the ground work in the coming weeks, that they get the job done quickly and safely so we can be ready to build the new cabins in the Spring!

Our beloved counselor, Kristian (aka: Captain Krunch) could use some prayers! Kristian had a cyst in his brain that ruptured suddenly, requiring emergency brain surgery. Kristian is in the hospital and recovering well. His spirits are high and he is excited to share how God protected him and provided for his care and safety at every turn.

We encourage our campers to add “Captain Krunch” to their prayer journals and for everyone to join us in praying for Kristian’s complete healing.

The campers are gone for the year, but this little one was looking for some friends to play Gaga ball this past weekend.
