We were honored to welcome and serve with a team from St. Joe United Methodist Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana! This team, led by Luke Rumple, one of St. Joe’s associate pastors, was the first from St. Joe’s UMC to serve with us, and it was a joy to get to know them and to work alongside them.

The team continued the construction on our public middle school kitchen project at the INEB Telesecundaria public middle school in the town of Godinez, mixing and pouring a concrete base to level the floor, and then laying the first tiles on the new surface. They also stuccoed the frames for the doors and serving windows!

We’re grateful to St. Joe UMC for their love and support for the people of Guatemala, and we look forward to serving with them again in the future!

This spring we were honored to host another team from Indian Run United Methodist Church in Dublin, Ohio! The team, led once again by Kelly Mohr, was Indian Run’s UMC’s sixth team to serve with us!

The team continued the construction on our public middle school kitchen project at the INEB Telesecundaria public middle school in the town of Godinez during their week, and also took a day to paint parts of our clinic and office space. The group also planned and shared in activities with children from nearby communities!

We’re grateful to each member of this team—and to Indian Run UMC as a whole—for their support and friendship!

¡Feliz Día de las Madres!

Today we honor the strong women in our lives who have celebrated with us on our best days and also carried us through our darkest times. We are also grateful to those women who may not be related to us by blood but who encourage and care for us, loving us unconditionally.

Though this day only falls once a year, we give thanks EVERY DAY for each of the strong, resilient women we call mom, madre, or simply "friend."

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

For our second team in 2026 we were excited to welcome volunteers from Sugar River UMC in Verona, Wisconsin! Sugar River UMC sent some of our first-ever volunteers way back in October 2010, and this was Sugar River UMC’s eleventh volunteer team to serve with us since!

This team continued the construction of our kitchen project for the INEB Telesecundaria public middle school in the community of Godinez. They also spent a day at our clinic and office property completing the painting of our “Kematzib’” Technology Learning Center!

We are deeply grateful to Sugar River UMC for their support and friendship throughout the past 15 years!

Our first volunteer team of 2026 was made up of folks from various United Methodist churches in Northern Indiana, as well as members of the recovery community in Frankfort, Indiana! Led by retired UMC pastor Jim Farrer, almost all of this team were serving with us for the first time.

For the majority of their week, the team continued stuccoing the walls of the kitchen we’ve been building for the INEB Telesecundaria public middle school in the community of Godinez. However, the team also took a day to serve at our clinic and office space in San Andrés, helping to prep our “Kematzib’” Technology Learning Center for a fresh coat of paint, as well to help us with other projects around the space.

We were grateful to start the year serving alongside such a wonderful group of people!

We welcomed our final team for 2025 from Covenant United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana! During their week, this team served alongside us at our property in San Andrés Semetabaj, helping to remodel our clinic laboratory space to make it more funcional and to ensure its compliance with new health regulations in Guatemala. The team also installed a dishwashing sink and drain in our staff break room, and helped with other small projects around the property!

We are grateful to each member of this team for their tireless work through the week, as well as their hearts of love and service for our sisters and brothers here in Guatemala!

Today we are introducing the 20 students who are studying in high school with a scholarship from our "Becas Con Misión" (Scholarships with a Mission) program!

A lack of access to public middle and high schools in Guatemala leaves many students with limited resources unable to continue studying beyond primary school. Mission Guatemala’s scholarship program helps cover tuition and materials costs so that students can continue their education through high school!

“As Easter people, we are not called to ignore the realities around us—but to face them with resurrection faith. Each day, we choose not to be paralyzed by fear or consumed by despair. We choose not to surrender to injustice, division, or hopelessness. Instead, we rise—with Christ.

We rise to love more boldly.
We rise to lead with courage.
We rise to stand for justice and extend compassion.
We rise to be the Church—not only in word, but in our witness.”

—Bishop Tracy S. Malone, Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church

He is not here, He is risen!

Happy Easter y ¡Feliz Domingo de Resurrección a tod@s!
