Today, we pause to honor and remember the 343 fire fighters who made the ultimate sacrifice at the World Trade Center, along with the thousands of innocent lives tragically lost 24 years ago.

We will never forget their courage, their sacrifice, or the impact of that day. Their legacy lives on every time we answer the call, standing ready to protect our communities with the same dedication and selflessness they showed.

This Labor Day, we recognize the strength, resilience, and daily achievements of American workers. We honor our fire fighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 Telecommunicators across Indiana who stand shoulder to shoulder on the front line, answering the call and protecting their communities with courage and compassion. Their courage and commitment embody the true spirit of labor: strength in service, unity in purpose.

Local 5487 is pleased to announce another year of successful contract negotiations with Patoka Township.

Once again the Township Trustee, Phyllis Gabbard-Ernst, and members of the Township Board came together with members of Local 5487 to find common ground. Moving the department forward all while having the tax payers and the many visitors to Patoka Townships safety and well being in mind.

We look forward to continuing our partnership and progress with this administration. It's important to know where your elected officials stand on public safety and the well being of those providing such. We're proud we don't have to question.
