Kathy of Barker Farm Outreach's words are a reminder of something we see every day here in Illinois...

We grow enough food, but it doesn’t always reach the people who need it.

That's why at Feeding Illinois, we work alongside farmers and hunters across the state to make sure more of that food finds its way to families. Our mission is turning surplus harvests and donated protein into real meals across tables in our great state.

Like Kathy said, in a place of abundance, no one should be left without.

Ugh! So sad… I have to re-home this beautiful boy! 😩🐓

I caught him cock-a-doodle-dooing in the hen house this morning, and while I admire his confidence, he just can’t stay.

You see, our girls have an important job: laying eggs to donate to our local food pantries. 🥚❤️

So, in the interest of keeping everyone focused and preventing an unexpected population explosion, this sweet boy needs a new home where he can strut, crow, supervise the ladies, and live his best rooster life! 🐓👑

He is 8 weeks old today, incredibly friendly, and absolutely handsome. 🥰

If you or someone you know needs a charming little rooster, he may be your guy! 😂

🌾 Looking for Straw! 🌾

Barker Farm Outreach is looking for 20 clean bales of straw for our nonprofit produce garden in the Princeton, Illinois area.

I can purchase them from our local Ace Hardware for about $8 per bale, but I would much rather buy directly from a local farmer if possible.
