The Janus Players

The Janus Players The Janus Players is a performing arts group within the Hun School of Princeton. We produce 3 shows a year: a fall show, a winter show, and a spring show.

Founded in November 1959, the Janus Players started as a simple drama appreciation club at the Hun School of Princeton. They didn't start performing until the following school year, when they performed "Emperor Jones." The Janus Players received their name in 1981. It came as a suggestion from David Lovell '82, inspired by the Roman God Janus, the god of Entrances and Exits. Throughout the years,

the Janus Players productions have included: "Anything Goes," "Hairspray," South Pacific," "Bat Boy: The Musical," "All My Sons," "Kiss Me Kate," "The Who's, Tommy," "The Crucible," and many more.

"People hear lots of things about Urinetown, of course, and that's just the way we like it. For example, a little boy once asked me, 'Is Urinetown actually a nice place to live? Gingerbread houses along golden, frothy canals? Like Venice, only different?' I didn't say yes. I didn't say no, either ..."
