On this day Barack Obama announced our inspirational namesake Bayard Rustin would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously, given to his partner (& our BRCSJ Board Member Emeritus!) the wonderful Walter Naegle, 26 years after his passing.
Whereas we fully appreciate President Obama's acknowledgement & the honor indeed wonderful, it was far too long in coming.
On this day our Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice pledges to fight that much harder to make sure no member of any of our beautifully diverse intersectional communities is ever left behind again!
