We are a New Jersey foster care nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.

Our mission is to embrace, support, and advocate for children, youth, and families within the child welfare community. As a foster care nonprofit dedicated to embracing, supporting, and advocating for children, youth, and families, we’ve served New Jersey’s most vulnerable children for more than 50 years. In this time, we’ve seen the incredible, life-changing work moms and dads have made in shaping a better and brighter future for our foster, adoptive, and kinship children and youth.

We’re getting ready for embrella’s Annual Passport to Education (P2E) & Kinship (KinCon) Conferences! 🎉💙🌟

Join us Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm in New Brunswick, NJ for a day filled with workshops, resources, networking, and opportunities to connect with other young people, caregivers, and supportive adults.

This year’s theme is The Family We Build: finding your people, creating connection, building community, and growing together.

Another fun day in the office together! 🦦🌿

We welcomed the Education and Training Unit of the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights for a staff training on Reasonable Accommodations in the Workplace and the Law Against Discrimination.

And since we were all together, we brought back our Dress Up Theme Day!

In honor of National Wildlife Day, our staff got creative with animal prints, wildlife-inspired outfits, and a few unexpected ways to join in on the theme 🐾🐆🐬

And of course, there could only be one Top Banana! 🍌🏆

Lance took home the trophy at our last theme day, and once again, he was named our Best Dressed!

September is Kinship Care Month! 💙

Kinship caregivers play an important role in helping children stay connected to the people, relationships, and communities they know and trust.

This month, we’re highlighting what kinship care is, why it matters, and the support available to kinship caregivers.

Through embrella’s Connecting Families Meetings, caregivers can connect with others, share experiences, and learn about resources and support.

Looking for scholarships specifically for foster youth in New Jersey? 🎓

There’s one day left to apply for the New Jersey Foster Care Scholars Program!

NJFC provides educational assistance to eligible students with a history of foster care in New Jersey.

Through our partnership with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF), embrella helps students access funding and services to support their educational goals.

At Diana’s Connecting Families Meeting, caregivers from Morris, Sussex, and Passaic counties learned more about school avoidance and the different factors that can make returning to school challenging for students.

The conversation explored practical ways caregivers and schools can work together, along with emotional and academic supports, including 504 Plans and IEPs, that can help students feel supported and reconnect with learning.

Families who pre-registered also received Back-to-School Backpacks filled with school supplies to help start the school year ready! 🎒✏️

Tasia’s Connecting Families Meeting brought caregivers from Middlesex and Union Counties together in partnership with the Bayway Fsc.

Caregivers had the opportunity to meet others, share experiences, exchange ideas, and build connections with people who understand the caregiving journey. Children in attendance also enjoyed activities while families connected over a light dinner.

Families who pre-registered received Back-to-School Backpacks filled with school supplies to help get their children ready for the new school year! 🎒📚

A big thank you to the Sussex County Miners and Joann Ciancitto, Manager of Corporate Partnerships/Fan Services Coordinator, for their continued support of Sussex County resource families! ⚾️🦦🌟

During their August home game series at Skylands Stadium, the Miners generously provided a free vendor table for embrella and the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, giving us an opportunity to connect with families and share resources.

They also donated proceeds from their 50/50 fundraiser to embrella to support resource families in Sussex County 💙

This is the second year the Miners have supported families in our community, and we are so grateful for their continued generosity and partnership.

Thank you for helping us make a difference for New Jersey families! 🫶

At Travis’ Connecting Families Meeting, caregivers and youth from Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset, and Warren Counties explored the importance of Life Books and how they can help young people in care preserve memories, better understand their journey, and build a stronger sense of identity.
