For more on effective altruism in general, visit:
http://www.effectivealtruism.org/ Effective Altruism is about doing the most good with what we have. There are many ways to do good, and many people in need of help. Effective Altruists try their best to examine all of their options for “doing good” to see where they can help the most. Effective Altruists believe that it is

possible for individuals to dramatically improve the lives of many, and for collections of motivated individuals to change the world. Giving What We Can is an international society dedicated to eliminating poverty in the developing world. The members of Giving What We Can are people who have realized how easy it is to do large amounts of good in the world and who have made a commitment to give 10% of their income to the most effective charities they can find. For a person earning $24,000 per year, this would mean saving 5 lives per year. It is amazing to think that this kind of feat is within most people's reach. Related websites:
