The Princeton Club of South Florida is proud to announce that this year's recipient of the Princeton Prize is Cara Xie.

Cara Xie, a Junior at American Heritage School, came to the United States from China in 2022 and was surprised to find the American political climate had turned against diversity and inclusion, to the point that even discussing the topic was controversial. When she wanted to use her position as President of her school’s ActionPAKT community service club and columns in the school newspaper to address the issue, she was told that the school preferred to remain neutral on political issues. So she took independent action and started a YouTube Channel and podcast, “Don’t Erase my Identity (DEI).” After extensive outreach, Cara produced and has posted interviews with leading diversity and inclusion officials in government and the private sector. She’s organized her own DEI conference, to be held in April, and has attended conferences at the King Center and Harvard. In her own words, her goal is to “help more GenZers hear the work of professionals” from diverse backgrounds addressing these issues. School officials report that her work has inspired both faculty and student government leaders who were impressed by her tenacity after being initially shot down. In their words, Cara “will never let a voice be silenced.”

Cara will receive a cash award and attend a symposium at Princeton this Spring.
