Foster Homes Needed - Ruff Start Rescue Ruff Start Rescue is looking for fosters to open their homes to animals in need. We also ask that you treat your foster animal the same as if it were your own.

The animals depend on people to open their hearts and homes to them and care for them until they are adopted. An RSR foster's responsibility is to love, feed, play, exercise and provide social interaction for the foster animal. We ask that you take the animal to vet appointments and handle any medical tasks such as giving daily medications. It's easy to get started! The first step is to fill out the foster signup form. Then you will hear from an RSR representative so you can learn more about what fostering entails and discuss any questions or concerns you have before bringing your first foster animal home. We are excited to save lives with you!

🐾 FOSTER NEEDED: Bucky & Pete, A Two-Pack of Fluffy Doodle Joy! ☁️☁️

Sometimes life gets so busy that the best things in it get overlooked, and that’s exactly what happened to Bucky and Pete 🐶🐶. These bonded 3-year-old Labradoodle brothers are genuinely wonderful dogs, but their family’s circumstances have changed. After a lot of soul-searching, their people made the tough, caring choice to find them a spot where they can be the center of the universe again. 💛

At roughly 70 pounds each, that’s around 140 pounds of curly, cuddly golden fluff 🧸 arriving as a matched set! Their photo says it all: one brother sprawled out in the sunshine like he’s on vacation 😎, the other standing tall with his tongue out and a grin from ear to ear 😄. Polite, well-mannered, and sweet to the core, these two have their training down pat. Fair warning, they will announce your arrival with a round of barks 📣, but give them a few minutes and you’ll be their new favorite human.

Say hello to Reggie 💙 (you may have known him as Shadow)! This 11-year-old Toy Poodle has a scruffy salt-and-pepper beard, soulful upturned eyes, and the polished manners of a retired professor. Life has thrown a lot of change at him lately, and like any distinguished elder, he’s finding the upheaval a bit overwhelming. What he wants now is simple: a calm, steady place where he can settle in and feel safe again. 🏡

Reggie is roughly 12 pounds of pure sweetness, and the people who know him say he’s an absolute gentleman 🌟. He’s house trained, neutered, and happiest when he’s close to his people. His eyesight is fading, and his caregiver suspects his hearing may be slipping too, so you might need to speak up a little (we all have that one beloved uncle 😉). Say hello to Ruby 🐶, a 2-year-old Goldendoodle (some of you may remember her as Suzi) who comes fully loaded with a big grin, an even bigger tongue, and absolutely zero interest in staying where you put her! 😂 Ruby only recently moved into a new home, but she and the resident senior pup just aren’t a good fit, so this bright young lady needs a safe spot to land while she finds her forever people. 💛

His owner absolutely adores him, but life took a turn and they can no longer give this young guy the routine he craves. Peek-a-boo! 👀 This little gentleman loves to scope out the world from his cat tree hideout, showing off golden eyes, a pink button nose, and a crisp white bib like he dressed up just for you. He’s about 5 months old and the last kitten left from a trio who started out very unsure about people. Both of his siblings have already found homes 🏡, so now it’s this handsome guy’s turn in the spotlight. And here’s the fun twist: whoever fosters him gets to pick his name! ✍️

🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED: Finn Is Back, and So Is His Mighty Tail! 🐶💥

Plot twist alert 📢 Finn had a foster all lined up, but that foster got sick and had to bow out. We already promised this sweet boy a spot back in rescue, so now we need a hero to step in ASAP! 🦸

Some of you might recognize him 👀 Finn started life as a Ruff Start puppy and has spent the last five years as a deeply loved family dog. His people adore him, but between constant travel and shifting circumstances, they made the heartbreaking choice to bring him back so he can land somewhere with more time and steady routines 💛

Finn is a 5-year-old, 65 lb Boxer/American Staffordshire Terrier mix, and he’s basically two dogs in one handsome tan package. Indoors he’s a mellow, snuggle-obsessed sofa companion who wants to be pressed right up against his humans 🛋️ Just look at that photo: one ear flipped up, chin parked on a sweatshirt, and big soulful eyes that say “you’re not going anywhere.” Step outside, though, and he switches into explorer mode, ready for dog park laps, camping trips, and a good swim 🏕️🏊

🧡 FOSTER NEEDED: Meet Garfield, the Snuggle-Powered Orange Teen Who Lives Up to His Name! 🐾

Say hello to Garfield 🐱, a 9-month-old ginger dynamo who has clearly studied the orange cat handbook cover to cover. Just look at him: sprawled across a mountain of fuzzy blankets, front paws stretched out like he’s claiming the entire pile as his royal kingdom 👑, eyes squeezed shut in total bliss. This boy has mastered the art of relaxation. 😴

When he’s not napping like a seasoned professional, Garfield is a busy, playful youngster who wants to chase, pounce, and then melt right into your lap for some serious cuddle time 🤗. He is an owner surrender: he’s been peeing in spots where he picks up the scent of another cat. A vet checked him out and found nothing medical behind it, so the hope is that getting him neutered will settle those hormone-fueled instincts 🤞. Everywhere else, he uses his litter box like a perfect gentleman. 🎩

Double the floof, double the fun! 🎉 Winnie and Clark are a 5-month-old brother and sister pair of tabbies whose owner has run out of options for finding them homes. That’s where you come in! By every report, these two are classic kittens through and through: curious, playful, and an absolute delight to have around. 💕

Just look at those faces! 👀 Winnie is the wide-eyed sweetheart, all big green eyes and a plume of a tail, radiating “what’s that and can I bat it?” energy. Clark has mastered the serious, slightly judgy stare of a cat who definitely has opinions about your thermostat settings 🧐. Both come fully loaded with fluffy chest ruffs, tufted ears, and tails that could moonlight as feather dusters. 🪶
