After deep reflection, and with sadness, we want to inform you that after seven years of serving our community, www.mathematicallygiftedandblack.com will be transitioning into an archival project.
Since our launch in 2017, it has been our mission to provide space to highlight the journeys of some of our favorite colleagues. We've had the opportunity to feature some of the "firsts", some of the "onlys", and some of the best mathematicians. Your support, engagement, and trust have made this journey truly meaningful, and for that, we are immensely grateful.
We understand that this change may be unexpected, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding as we navigate these adjustments. Be assured that we will continue other initiatives including our partnership with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. We also look forward to launching the Mathematically Gifted and Black coffee table book.
Thank you once again for supporting the website Mathematically Gifted and Black.
With appreciation,
Candice, Erica, Raegan, and Shelby

2025's Underrepresented Students in Topology and Algebra Research Symposium will be hosted by Reed College, Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5!

Visit www.ustars.org to apply and for more information about current and past USTARS events.

USTARS is an annual conference where students at all stages in their research present their work, form research and social support networks with other mathematicians, and learn about related research and professional options. Presenters at USTARS give 20-minute research talks on various topics in the fields of topology and algebra. As this yearโ€™s invited faculty speaker, Dr. Marissa Kawehi Loving of the University of Wisconsin Madison, will give the keynote address.

This symposium provides an invaluable opportunity for students who have not yet chosen a research topic, or have switched areas of study, to learn about potential research topics. In addition to the student lectures, a poster session highlights undergraduate research and graduate research. Apply before December 13th, 2024 to present and/or be considered for full funding.

Best,
The USTARS 2025 Organizing Committee
