PCNWNJ is an alumni organization in Northwestern NJ. We hope you will join us and participate often!

Welcome to the Princeton Club of Northwestern New Jersey ("PCNWNJ"), which has been serving Princeton undergraduate and graduate alumni, students, parents and friends in our area for over sixty+ years. The area we serve includes Morris, Sussex and Warren counties, as well as portions of Somerset, Hunterdon, Essex and Union counties. A completely volunteer organization, our aim is to renew and main

tain ties with the University, and to build a sense of community among our members by providing social, cultural and educational activities that appeal to their varied interests. Our ongoing activities include:

Supporting our local Alumni Schools Committee by annually interviewing candidates to Princeton, donating Princeton Book Awards to honor high school juniors, attending college nights and fairs, and hosting a Spring reception for newly admitted students;
Awarding the Princeton Prize in Race Relations to local high school students;
Encouraging broad participation in Annual Giving and the PCNWNJ Scholarship;
Inviting Princeton faculty and administrators to speak;
Hosting an Annual Members Meeting Dinner and other social events. Please visit the Membership webpage for details on getting involved.

Join your local Princeton alumni for a special Wine Tasting with Boris Fishman '01 in Morristown, NJ! Back by popular demand!
Details:
When: December 9th, 6:30-8:00PM
Where: 40 W Park Place, Private Club Room, Morristown
Cost: $30 members, $35 non-members

Princeton grad (and former Lecturer in Princeton's Creative Writing Program) Boris Fishman '01 has volunteered to host a fun evening of drinking and learning about wine. Boris is an acclaimed novelist and journalist with national awards and two appearances on The New York Times Best 100 Books of the Year list, and also teaches creative writing and literature at The University of Austin. But he has a passionate sideline in wine writing and education -- he has apprenticed with a winemaker in Sonoma, California; written about wine and food for Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, The New Yorker, and The New York Times, Saveur, and VinePair; and received advanced certification in wine from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust in the UK. He has pieces forthcoming in Food & Wine about the immigrant cuisines of Houston; in Noble Rot about the singular wines of Marsala, Sicily; and in VinePair about a winemaking revolution in Rheinhessen, Germany.

Join him and fellow local grads at 40 W Park Place, Private Club Room, Morristown on December 9 at 6:30 - 8:00pm for a class on "Hidden Gems: The Wines You Don't Know About -- But Should." No prior wine education or preparation required, though you may wish to check out "In defense of wine," an opinion piece Boris published in The New York Times last year.

Tasting notes will be provided after the event. RSVP by 11/18.

The Princeton Footnotes, a low-voice a ca****la group founded in 1959, are excited to be holding a concert in Mountain Lakes (near Parsippany) on October 11th! We warmly invite you to come reconnect with fellow alumni and to celebrate Princeton's long-standing tradition of a ca****la. Tickets are not required: attendees are free to pay what they wish, but we would greatly appreciate it if you could RSVP if you plan on coming. Attendance is open to all, so please feel free to invite friends and family as well!

Fall Fest Luau - Hula Lesson by Won Hah *99 followed by Potluck Dinner

Join the Princeton Women's Network of Northern NJ and the Princeton Club of Northwestern NJ for an afternoon of hula. Revel in the beauty of hula as we dance in an indoor pavilion surrounded by the vibrant foliage of Dunham Park. Join fellow alums for a complimentary, one-hour lesson with professional hula dancer, Ms. Won J. Hah *99. Learn hula movements and dance to classical Hawaiian songs. Besides being an art form, hula dance is a low impact cardio workout that improves posture, balance, and grace. Hula dance not only stimulates the memory and positive vibes, but also facilitates links to nature and other people.

After the hula lesson, we will partake of a potluck dinner. There will be a Hawaiian craft for children, as well as a nearby playground in the park. Attendees will be gifted with a shell lei and/or hair flower.

Join fellow alumni back on campus for an afternoon of spirit, tradition and community as we celebrate the Class of 2029.
Schedule of Events:

4:00 - 4:30 p.m. Pre-rade
Gather at the Oval with Points Sculpture to cheer as the Class of 2029 marches by in the Pre-rade.
Location: Oval with Points Sculpture (north of Morrison Hall)

4:45 - 5:30 p.m. Step Sing
Experience the tradition as the Class of 2029 learns the Locomotive cheer and performs classic and contemporary songs on the steps of Blair Arch.
Location: Courtyard below Blair Arch (outside of University Store)

Be sure to wear your brightest orange and black!

Summer Send-Off

The Princeton Club of Northwestern NJ (PCNWNJ) invites you and your guests to a PCNWNJ Summer Send-Off gathering to welcome newly matriculated undergrad and grad students from our region as the newest Tigers to join the Princeton family.

This free event will be potluck style (details to follow). Orange and black attire is encouraged and always appropriate.

Who: Newly matriculated Princeton undergrad/grad students; current Princeton students; Princeton alumni; Princeton parents; all other Princeton affiliates; and guests of all of the above.

Vivian is the Assistant Director in STEM Education at Princeton’s Council on Science and Technology, where she develops and implements interdisciplinary courses that connect the sciences, engineering, arts, and humanities. An analytical chemist by training, she brings a deep commitment to cross-disciplinary learning, public engagement, and equity in education. Prior to Princeton, Vivian was a tenured professor at Augsburg University, leading research in environmental nanotoxicology and mentoring underrepresented students in STEM. She is a co-Principal Investigator with the NSF Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology and served as a Fulbright Visiting Professor in Austria in 2021. Vivian has held leadership roles in academia and professional organizations and frequently speaks on issues of diversity, sustainability, and women in science. A graduate of Linfield College and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, she also credits her early experiences at the United World College of Adriatic for inspiring her lifelong passion for international and interdisciplinary education.

Volunteer Event with the Community Foodbank of NJ (CFBNJ)
Key facts about CFBNJ

In New Jersey nearly 815,000 people struggle with hunger--approximately 1 in 11. This includes close to 200,000 children, approximately 1 in 10.
In 2023, CFBNJ distributed enough nutritious food for more than 90 million meals. 34% of this food was fresh produce, and about 76% of it was highly nutritious “foods to encourage.”
Volunteering Details

Activities will take place at the CFBNJ warehouse at 31 Evans Terminal, Hillside NJ 07205
Volunteer activities vary based on need and might include packing boxes of shelf-stable food for our Senior Boxes, or Family Pack Program, preparing meals in our production kitchen, packaging pasta, or sorting and separating donated food. Each of these activities supports CFBNJ's food distribution to neighbors in need in New Jersey.
Minors starting at 12 years of age may come with their family member, making this a fantastic family alumni activity to create further community for your school.
