Brethren,

Today, April 18, 2025, we commemorate the 250th anniversary of Most Worshipful Brother Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride — a defining moment in the birth of our nation and a shining example of the courage and conviction that Freemasonry inspires.

On the night of April 18, 1775, Brother Revere rode from Boston to Lexington to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were advancing. His bold action helped ignite the American Revolution and remains an enduring symbol of patriotism, vigilance, and civic responsibility.

As Masons, we are especially proud to recognize Paul Revere not only as a patriot, but as a deeply devoted Brother whose Masonic journey mirrored his public life of service:

Initiated: September 4, 1760

Raised: January 27, 1761

Worshipful Master, St. Andrew’s Lodge: Installed November 30, 1770

Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts: Elected December 8, 1794; served until December 27, 1797

Under his leadership as Grand Master, Freemasonry flourished in post-Revolutionary Massachusetts, embodying the principles of liberty, brotherhood, and civic engagement.

Let us take a moment today to reflect on MWB Revere’s legacy — as a Mason, a leader, and an American patriot — and rededicate ourselves to the values he so nobly upheld.
