As we scale our work to reach 10,000+ families, conducting 50K+ Swastho Shongini home visits per year, 5000+ group Shahoshini meetings (with a goal to grow impact 3-5x in the next 3 years), it becomes crucial to monitor all this work in a systematic way.

We are very excited to be launching our custom mobile/cloud app to capture health data, conduct large-scale impact & needs surveys, and monitor field activities.

As we celebrate the 77th Independence Day of India, we are reminded that true freedom goes beyond securing the boundaries of our country. It lies in guaranteeing the safety, dignity, and rights of every individual—especially the women and marginalized communities who continue to face injustice and violence.

Recent events, like the tragic incident at RG KAR Medical College, serve as a stark reminder that we still have a long way to go. This is not just about isolated cases but a systemic issue that needs to be addressed at its roots.

At Kolkata Foundation, we stand with the survivors, the fighters, the countless women who are demanding their rightful place in society, and the ones who are suffering in silence. The program which KF supports, is dedicated to empowering women, instilling gender sensitivity, and fostering autonomy. But we know that this is just the beginning. We must continue to work, advocate, and push for actionable change to create a society where freedom is truly enjoyed by all.

This Independence Day, let’s not just celebrate the past but commit to shaping a future where every woman feels safe, respected, and free. The journey is long, but together, we can make a difference!

We are deeply touched and grateful for a generous donation made to the Kolkata Foundation by a kind-hearted patron in memory of her beloved mother. This thoughtful contribution has provided a beautiful lunch for the children at Ek Tara, bringing smiles and joy to their day.
635 students at EkTara were delighted to receive flavorful egg biriyani with raita, bringing smiles to their faces. Ice creams added an extra touch of joy to the meal.
Their meal plan ensures that children do not go to class on an empty stomach.

While is dedicated to creating long-term, sustainable change, we recognize and deeply appreciate the importance of immediate acts of generosity as well.

We encourage everyone to consider how they can contribute, whether through immediate acts of kindness or by supporting our long-term initiatives. Together, we can create both instant and lasting impacts in our community.

Kolkata Foundation’s healthcare initiatives are most effectively fulfilled by RHCF as our ground partner. It’s heartening to see we have been able to reach over 20K patients in just one month through all the centers we support.
India and the state of West Bengal have made considerable progress since independence with the establishment of many healthcare facilities and the introduction of insurance schemes. However, access to quality healthcare remains a challenge for many, especially among the underprivileged and rural populations.

Limited access to primary healthcare can have debilitating consequences, both economic and social, for the underprivileged. A single serious illness can bankrupt the meager savings of the poor. Kolkata Foundation is working with local healthcare-focused nonprofits to find effective and low-cost answers to improving health outcomes while leveraging existing solutions. Rural Healthcare Foundation is bridging the gap most effectively by making healthcare easily accessible for all!

From being unable to pay the school fees for his exam and leaving the school to giving tuition in his locality to teaching slum kids in a 300 sqft. room, Mamoon Akhtar and his journey of opening Samaritan Mission School in West Bengal for the underprivileged children of Howrah is an inspiring story to know. We are so proud to be supporting Samaritan Help Mission’s Bankra school. Congratulations to Mamoon Akhtar and his team for bettering the lives of children through education!

Here’s an update from the grounds about our Swastho Shongini project in collaboration with -

On July 30th, an orthopaedic camp was hosted in the Gram Clinic. It was a joint venture between our Swastho Shongini and gram clinic. Over 70 patients from the community came to the camp.
The patients were treated by specialists. from RG Kar’s (a renowned hospital in Kolkata) Orthopaedic department. A physiotherapist, gave the patients demonstrations of various pain-management techniques. The patients received free medication from Mukti.

58 women have been tested at the two cervical cancer screening camps that have been hosted so far. Three ladies were found to be positive from both camps.
These three women were contacted by Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital yesterday for treatment. They provided patients with excellent care that was completely free of charge, including a biopsy and a heat therapy.
They received special care and didn't have to wait in a huge queue, which was incredibly impressive.

We are amazed to see how our program is helping these women become leaders by bringing change in themselves- they are fearless, able to express their feelings and raise their voices, and aware of the systemic inequalities. They are eager to learn and go out in the community.

We are hopeful that this program will bring about meaningful change in the social eco system of Sunderbans!

Find out more about our work on our website. Follow our journey and get involved! Every bit counts!
