🎒 Local History Comes Alive for Princeton 2nd Graders! 📜✨
Today, Mrs. Naparella’s 2nd-grade class took a step back in time with a special tour of the Princeton Historical Society’s Folklore Museum!
Historical Society members Mary Lind, Vickie Wielgosh, and Jim Frasier were on hand to share fascinating stories of Princeton’s history and the remarkable people who shaped our community with 17 wonderful students.
The kids had a blast exploring our local roots through:
🕵️‍♂️ A fast-paced museum scavenger hunt
🧵 Interactive exhibits, including a live demonstration of how yarn is spun from wool using a traditional spinning wheel
🚢 Learning about the historic steamboats that once traveled the Fox River
⚙️ Discovering the mechanics of swing bridges—like our very own Black Bridge—and how they used to open to let those massive steamboats pass through!
It was a fun, hands-on, and educational day for everyone involved. We were absolutely thrilled to share our rich past with the next generation of Princeton leaders!

If you missed our Historical Society meeting last night, it was another well-attended, fun event! Our guest speaker was Glen Gorsuch and he came dressed as a fur trader/voyager. He talked about the early French fur traders and their interactions with the Native Americans in the Princeton region.
