We had some kittens teach us how to do barre recently at OpenBarre in College Park, MD !
They taught us many things including how to curl up inside of your barre mat to take a little nap,
how to stand properly on top of the bar, and how to multitask while doing barre (by holding a
kitten).
Thank you to Open Barre Studios and awesome instructors Connie & Jess for hosting us for this wonderful fundraiser yet again! With
everyone’s support, we raised $940 for our rescue and made some wonderful connections with
our community!

We found sweet Sally outside in bad shape. She had a head wound, and was emaciated and matted. We know that she was someone’s pet once because she had already been spayed and was the sweetest girl you ever met! We’re not sure how she ended up outside, but were thankful we found her in time.

Sally spent several months with ACLR healing up. We treated her head wound, helped get her much-needed TLC and many, many treats and yummy food, and also got her on a medication regimen for treating her underlying thyroid condition. Check out her before and after to see what a few months of love and care can do!

Sally is a senior girl and one of our longest residents waiting for a forever home. She’s such a sweet soul: She purrs the moment we touch her, and kindly reminds us when it’s time for her meal times. She’s gentle, well-mannered, and just wants to be around you! Sally is dog-friendly and would make a great addition to any loving, quiet home.

The amount of cats that have to live outside is quite hard to comprehend even for those of us involved in animal welfare. We can assure you the numbers are overwhelming.

Each week just our rescue alone TNRs roughly 3️⃣0️⃣ cats

We spay approximately 1️⃣0️⃣ Foster’s

That’s 1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ feral cats spayed every year from JUST US. While only 3️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ foster cats find their indoor home.

We are desperately trying to reduce the number of outdoor cats so that the number of cats in this world matches the homes available to them.

This is a very big reason we are pro spay-abort. Each week we have about 5️⃣ spay-aborts, imagine if we allowed each of those cats to give birth? We would be drastically affecting the entire system that rescues and shelter have created to get a handle on this issue.

If you think the concept of spay-abort is uncaring or thoughtless, please reconsider your ideas about what is humane.

Our Schitt’s Creek kittens say you need to sign up for ACLR's Trap Neuter RUN! Fundraising 5k ! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
This fun run is not timed, and you are welcome to run, walk, or move at your own pace. Shirts will be available (see second photo) for all participants who register by September 10!

What makes this run special?

The 5K follows a route that includes MANY of the community cats and managed cat colonies we’ve helped TNR over the years! By participating, you’ll see firsthand how impactful our TNR efforts are.

Darth and Anakin took a somewhat unexpected path before they turned two!

These handsome brothers were first adopted from us as kittens in 2024. This past spring, they were returned to us just when we were gearing up for kitten season (to no fault of their own of course!) due to allergies in their former adopters’ home.

We were determined to act quickly and find a new loving family who’d adore them forever. It didn’t take long for them to find the right people!

Darth and Anakin have a pretty nice routine. They request ice water each morning when their human wakes up in addition to their wet food. From there, they play, snack, and sleep until 6pm when they’re ready for more wet food and ice water. Then, they get ready for bed time and snuggle up with their human. Their forever human says spending time with them is the highlight of their day!

What do these 4 kittens have in common?

, a viral infection that causes weakened immune systems and can lead to shortened lifespans. If you’ve followed us for a while then you’ve likely seen us post Gabby and Zooks, two foster best friends who have had 0 adoption inquiries since we took them in 8 months ago.

Now we introduced them to Sune and Astrid, two kittens with FeLV who we just rescued from a colony.

We’re certain the right people are out there for these cuties, we just have to find them! There are no guarantees with this condition—it can manifest in different ways, and adult cats with this FeLV can live longer healthy lives. We just want to make sure Gabby, Zooks, Astrid and Sune have the best lives possible in a forever home.
