Calvert Family Advocates Calvert Family Advocates' mission is to improve the lives of the county’s most vulnerable citizens Tax ID Number 26-1192752

Calvert Family Advocates, a member of the Maryland Association of Social Services Boards, is the nonprofit component of Calvert County’s Social Services Advisory Board. Funds raised by Calvert Family Advocates are used to compliment the Department of Social Services’ efforts and “close the gaps” where government programs do not exist. According to the United Way ALICE Project, one-third of Calvert

County households, and almost half of Calvert’s seniors, are either living in poverty or are not earning sufficient income to meet the cost of living threshold for our county. In the Calvert County Public Schools, 220 children were identified as homeless during the 2018-2019 school year. Since 2014 Calvert Family Advocates has helped more than 1100 adults and children addressing a wide range of needs including housing and utilities; job training and transportation; helping seniors pay medical bills; and providing opportunities for homeless and at-risk youth. In order to ensure our donors’ contributions are spent wisely, applications are validated by the Department of Social Services or the Calvert County Public Schools, and, with administrative expenses comprising only 3% of our budget, almost all funding helps people in need. On-going collaboration with other nonprofits ensures efforts are not duplicative and are addressing needs that are unmet in our community. About the MASSB Foundation

The Maryland Association of Social Services Boards Foundation was established so local Social Services Boards could obtain tax-deductible contributions to support local DSS projects and/or to build charitable endowments to provide permanent support of their programs. There are many worthwhile social service programs that are not governmentally funded and that could benefit from personal and business donations. Contributions to the MASSB Foundation are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed under federal tax laws.
