Families go Farming 4 Hunger.
It was a beautiful day on Serenity farm and NWSC families awoke early to be there when the rooster crowed. Several families gathered in the early morning light to harvest vegetables for those families in Southern Maryland that need a little extra food on the table. During the day the swimmers and their families harvested over 4 tons of food, and helped to load it into containers for the short truck ride to local churches and food banks where it will be distributed to those who have come upon hard times. Bernie Fowler the founder of Farming for Hunger was grateful and thanked the group for their hard work, and being so eager to help out.

This is the second annual "Day at the Farm' and NWSC plans to continue this tradition of helping others into the future. "Our athletes are learning that it's important to be thankful for what we have, and remembering to help those who may be less fortunate." said Head Coach Chris Morgan.

New Wave Swim Club gives back at Serenity Farms

On a hot and steamy Saturday morning, New Wave swimmers, parents, coach, and board members volunteered their time and energy to harvest corn and potatoes in support of ending hunger in our area. The produce harvested will be passed on to one of fifty-two local partnership churches for distribution to those in need. NWSC President, Paul Thompson, commented "The New Wave experience is about developing talent in the pool and top citizens in our community. We would like to thank Serenity Farms (www.serenityfarminc.com) for providing us the opportunity to serve today."

New Wave Swim Club is a not for profit parent run USA Swimming club who practices at the Hall Aquatic Center in Prince Frederick. For more information, check out the website at www.newwaveswimclub-md.com. Come swim with us!

What a wonderful opportunity we had to participate in the 10th Annual Calvert County Special Olympics 5k. NWSC families raised $620 and presented a check to Special Olympics today. We were honored to be part of such a special event!
