We were blessed to receive a generous donation from Hope in the Mountains to support our charitable works. We are pleased to share that these funds have already been allocated to ensure local children have warm clothing and sturdy boots for the coming winter. Their thoughtful gift has strengthened our ability to meet our charge, because every act of service refines the heart of the one who serves.

The 293 was honored to receive and welcome Deputy Sovereign Grandmaster Gerald Workman and his wife Sister Cheryl Workman last night. We had an amazing meeting and the future of Odd Fellowship is bright! FLT!

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our brother and IOOF Past Grandmaster of Kentucky, Fred Nelson. Fred was a light to many and loved by all. His heart was always in his hand and he is and was, and always will be, an Odd Fellow!

Please remember his family in your thoughts and prayers.

As 2023 draws to a close and we embark on a new year, I would like to take a moment to say how proud I am of our lodge and my brothers and sisters at the 293. I would love to give a detailed account of all their fine work but since this format is limited, I will provide only the cliff notes.

Here is a rundown of the work our brothers and sisters have been doing:

* Initiated 32 new members throughout the year (all of which are ideal Odd Fellows!)

* Achieved gender diversity with a near equal number of males and females (28 male members and 27 female members)

* Remodeled our dining hall and bathroom.

* Provided clothing to numerous families and individuals in need.

* Made necessary and much needed repairs to our building.

* Installed a nursery and hired a babysitter so that couples with children could both attend meetings.

* Hosted an amazing Christmas Dinner that was open to the community.

* Received Lodge of the Year Award at the Kentucky Grand Lodge Sessions.

* Had a member receive the Meritorious Service Jewel awarded by the Grand Lodge of Ky.

As you can see, the brothers and sisters of Prestonsburg 293 have been busy and I could not be more proud of their dedication. It was a singular honor to serve as Noble Grand this year and I am deeply honored to have been asked to sit as Noble Grand for one more year. I simply can not say enough about my brothers and sisters. The new year approaches and even greater opportunity lies before us. I have no doubt that we will seize the moment and this year’s list of accomplishments will pale in comparison to the next!
